Got this in an e-mail. Figured those here that haven't heard of it would like to know.

IT HAS BEEN CALCULATED THAT IF EVERYONE IN THE UNITED STATES DID NOT PURCHASE A DROP OF GASOLINE FOR ONE DAY AND ALL AT THE SAME TIME, THE OIL COMPANIES WOULD CHOKE ON THEIR STOCKPILES. AT THE SAME TIME IT WOULD HIT THE ENTIRE INDUSTRY WITH A NET LOSS OF OVER 4.6 BILLION DOLLARS WHICH AFFECTS THE BOTTOM LINES OF THE OIL COMPANIES.

THEREFORE MAY 19TH HAS BEEN FORMALLY DECLARED "STICK IT UP THEIR BEHIND" DAY AND THE PEOPLE OF THIS NATION SHOULD NOT BUY A SINGLE DROP OF GASOLINE THAT DAY. THE ONLY WAY THIS CAN BE DONE IS IF YOU FORWARD THIS E-MAIL TO AS MANY PEOPLE AS YOU CAN AND AS QUICKLY AS YOU CAN TO GET THE WORD OUT.

WAITING ON THIS ADMINISTRATION TO STEP IN AND CONTROL THE PRICES IS NOT GOING TO HAPPEN. WHAT HAPPENED TO THE REDUCTION AND CONTROL IN PRICES THAT THE ARAB NATIONS PROMISED TWO WEEKS AGO? REMEMBER ONE THING, NOT ONLY IS THE PRICE OF GASOLINE GOING UP BUT AT THE SAME TIME AIRLINES ARE FORCED TO RAISE THEIR PRICES, TRUCKING COMPANIES ARE FORCED TO RAISE THEIR PRICES WHICH EFFECTS PRICES ON EVERYTHING THAT IS SHIPPED. THINGS LIKE FOOD, CLOTHING, BUILDING MATERIALS, MEDICAL SUPPLIES ETC. WHO PAYS IN THE END? WE DO! WE CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE. IF THEY DON'T GET THE MESSAGE AFTER ONE DAY, WE WILL DO IT AGAIN AND AGAIN. SO DO YOUR PART AND SPREAD THE WORD. FORWARD THIS EMAIL TO EVERYONE YOU KNOW. MARK YOUR CALENDARS AND MAKE MAY 19TH A DAY THAT THE CITIZENS OF THE UNITED STATES SAY "ENOUGH IS ENOUGH!"

that's the problem with statistics, they dont always work in the real world. 1 day wouldent do anything but 3 or 4 would !!!!! I havent bought gas in a couple of weeks, one advantage to living in a small town and driving a jellybean.

in germany, 1 liter = €1,20
If I calculated correctly, this would be $5,80 per gallon...
we´ve got about 75% taxes in that price... and it´s getting worse!<img src=newicons/madani.gif border=0 align=middle>
I´m lucky because my company pays for the gas.

WE COULD BE RID OF OVERSEAS OIL IF WE WOULD USE MORE CORN FUEL AND BIO DIESEL.
AS MUCH CORN AND BEANS AMERICA OVER PRODUCES,THE FARMERS WOULD GET THE HIGHER PRICES,WHICH IN TURNS THE NEED TO BUY MORE TO PRODUCE MORE,EQUIPMENT,PARTS,ETC..... WHICH WOULD MEAN MORE JOBS AND BUISSNESS WHICH WOULD INCREASE THE TAX BASE IN RURAL AMERICA WHICH COULD GO FOR BETTER SCHOOLS,ROADS,PHONES,INTERNET,POWER-----------
WHICH WOULD PUT ,CONSTRUCTION WORKERS,ELECTRICANS,TEACHERS,DR'S ,THE EFFECTS GO ON FOR THE GOOD.
AMERICA IS ALREADY SEEING A FOOD PRICE INCREASE THAT HAS NO REASON EXCEPT A COUPLE OF CORPS WHO SET PRICES.

LOOK AT SMALL TOWNS AND HOW MANY BUISSNESS THEY HAD BEFORE THE GREAT FARM CRASH.
IF WE STARTED USING ARE CORN AND BEANS IT COULD HAPPEN AGAIN. MOST OF THE FARMERS I KNOW AND HAVE KNOWN WOULDNT BUY OVERS "CRAP" AS THEY CALL IT.THEY PROBABLY ARE THE MOST HARDLINE "BUY AMERICANS" CLASS.

AND WITH THE CHINESE AND INDIANS PUTTING THE SQUEEZE ON WORLD DEMAND THATS PROBABLY ARE ONLY CHOICE.

Gas over here is approx 4.95 NIS, I think. That's just over 1.2 USD, if not a bit less.

The problem with the 'no gas' thing is that once they get everybody used to the $2.00/gallon thing, the prices aren't gonna drop substantially even if we DO get the oil situation back under control. Once it's become the norm and everybody stops bitching about it, it's not gonna be a big deal anymore and we're all gonna keep paying it.

I remember when $1.00/gallon was expensive just a couple of years ago. Then it started to creep toward $1.25, then $1.40, then $1.50... now $1.50 is unheard of. F$%@ing ridiculous.

Actually, considering for inflation over the years, it's still not as expensive as it got during the early 1980s. The whole thing is that gas has been extremely cheap the past decade, and now it's finally catching up.

I don't just think outside the box...I turn it inside out with my mind.
