Pentagon May Get Reagan's Moniker United Press International June 10, 2004 WASHINGTON - U.S. Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist wants to rename the Pentagon after the late President Ronald Reagan. He introduced an amendment to the Senate version of the $400 billion defense authorization bill for 2005 to call the World War II-era building the "Ronald Reagan National Defense Building." The Pentagon is named for its architecture. It has five sides and boasts with five floors above ground. Frist also wants to call the Missile Defense Agency -- formerly the Ballistic Missile Defense Organization, and before that the Strategic Defense Initiative Office -- the Ronald Reagan Missile Defense Agency. Reagan was a champion of the early, expensive and since-abandoned space-based missile defense program popularly known as "Star Wars." President George Bush expects to order the deployment of the first 10 ground-based missile interceptor system in December. The system is a test bed but is designed to have limited capability against a nuclear ballistic missile launch from North Korea at the United States. The Pentagon budget calls for $10 billion to be spent on missile defenses in 2005. |

I don't think Reagan would want the Pentagon renamed after him. |

He already has the most powerful warship in the world named after him, and they did it before he was dead. How many people get to see a nuclear powered aircraft carrier named after them? Reagan was a great man, but the Pentagon is a name and a building with a lot of great history of it's own. "Freedom is never more than one generation away from extinction" Ronald Reagan |

The Pentagon should be named after Hillary Clinton, so we can say "Look Feminazi, we honored her," and then go on calling it the Pentagon and forget all about her because no one is going to start calling it Anybody's National Defense Building. Heck, let's do it now before she's dead. Maybe it'll speed the process. There should be a nice memorial to Reagan by way of a segment of the Berlin Wall and informative display, a large beautiful statue, and maybe an interactive museum showing all the technological and economical advances that were brought about through Reaganomics, etc. |

Why not name the Pentegon after Linda Tripp? She worked there, and help strike a mortal blow to Klintonites everywhere...Poke, there is actually a peice of the Berlin Wall in the Reagan Library, very cool display... Snipe I gotta disagree with you buddy, the USS Ronald Reagan may very well be finest warship in our great Navy. But when the flight decks are void of the best Naval Strike Fighters in the world...I would have to say that the honor of the most powerfull warship in the world is bestowed to the carrier that fields a squadron of F-14D's. I wonder if it would be possible to restore and ressurect the F-14D or the Tomcat 21 assembly line with private funds donated to the military... "Retreat, hell! We just got here!"-Captain Lloyd Williams, 2nd Marine Division, Belleau Wood, France, WWI |

I have to agree with ben. I don't believe Reagan would want it named after him either. Besides the fact is I'm sure Starbucks will be buying it soon to better serve the area Smitty |
