Has anyone else heard of any pending IRR and ING recalls? I was in the Air Force Reserves until 1995. I have been hearing that they are in need of aircraft maintenance personnel? Just wondering if I should get my personal affairs in order?

Thanks for any info in advance.

The US Army recently revised it's IRR rosters for potential call ups, not sure if the USAF did the same.

Don't bother. The AF is reducing the force by 18,000 enlisted and 4,000 officers by Jul 05. It is called the "Force Shaping Phase II" program. All AFSC's are affected. There are several parts to the program. One is called Blue to Green. AF to Army so to speak. Also a large portion will be allowed to transfer to Guard and Reserve units. Many will be forced out. It seems the AF has been over it's authorized end strenght numbers since 9-11. Now all of a sudden we have to have a RIF to fix the problem. The first phase was just completed. Now comes the second one. The are even allowing academy grads to pay off their active duty service committment (ADSC) and get out. Also reducing the ADSC of those promoted to MSgt and above from 2 years to 6 months. Airman that recieved a enlistment bonus and have served just one year are elgible to cross to the Army or going guard. It is a sad state of affairs really. So to answer you question, don't sweat it.
