what do you want to accomplish. map out what you intend to do first. WIll be on tomorrow will map out how my company approaches this but first write down on a sheet of paper what you vision is this saves a lot of time. |

once you decide on your vision. Reserve you domaine name. If you are going to hire a hosting company make sure the servers will allow you to complete your vision. For instance if you have a highly interactive site on a linux box you will need php, apache, mysql to start with, for high end work you will need tomcat java server. Will be back later Matt |

For a simple website like mine all you need is a basic HTML program like "composer", web space on a server, and a domain name. There are free services out there but they have a lot of "pop-ups" to pay the bills. Ugly But Well Hung |

like dice said html for simple sites. The reason I always start with blank sheet of paper is my clients always want new features. Remember flashy features are not always best they often slow down the page and drive viewers a way because they are annoying. |

MICHAEL PIJAR , There are a lot of questions we would need to know before we can give you specific answers. IE, what type of site? Is it a business or personal type site? What are your long range plans for the site? However if your looking at putting a simple site on the internet it's not difficult. As Dice said there are several WYSIWYG (what you see is what you get) programs out there that have made creating websites a snap. But I would highly recommend learning at least the basics of HTML. I say that because a lot of times those programs have away of rewritting certain codes. One of the best resources I've spent money on since I got into creating webpages was a book called HTML 3.2 & CGI (a little outdated now) published by Sam's Net.
