Well guys, this is probably my lsat post before I start my service in my country's armed forces, the Israeli Defense Forces. It's always been fun posting here and chilling with you guys, and hopefully I'll still be able to when I'm home. If not, thankx for providing entertainment for me when I was bored. I'll talk to you guys when I get out. I think now the traditional Israeli salutation is more appropriate then ever: SHALOM! "Retreat, hell! We just got here!"-Captain Lloyd Williams, 2nd Marine Division, Belleau Wood, France, WWI |

Safe and successful service, and may anyone that wishes to do harm to you and your people suffer extreme technical difficulties, like massive cranial overpressure. There is always hope-- only because it's the one thing no one has figured out how to kill... yet. |

I have a strong suspicion that you will make an excellent soldier ... but only after the 30th visit to the Colonel's Office. |

Good luck to the mighty Jewish Assassin. Just think BR, the next time you talk to all the military here, it will be as their brother. Oh, and don't die. You don't have the permission of anyone on this board to do that. Kick the bucket, and you're in big friggin' trouble mister. There are two kinds of soldiers. Good luck Ross. The last one of four of my cousins in Israel is an artillery instructor in the IDF. It's always crazy over there, I hope it all works out in the long run. Shalom. Hey dudes (and racegal ) I got back for the weekend today, after cooling my heels in the reception base since Sunday waiting for them to raise my medical profile so I could get a better billeting. Today they finally came through after a myriad of medical exams and the standard hurry up and wait, and on Sunday I go down south to the Armord Corps training base where I will either join the elite tanks unit, Palsa"r Shiryon, or I will try and get a transfer to an infantry unit, not excluding the Golani, Givati, Nakhal or Combat Engineers brigades. My week has been mainly waking up at 4:00-5:00 AM, getting in uniform, and since one of my commanders decreed it, the private in charge of yelling times and calling tench-hut to the commanders present. Since I've been there for almost a week, when standard is a day or two, I'm on a first name basis with them, and we chill together. I've realised also that it's the small things that work best, like shining your shoes the night before, or having your shaving kit and uniform on top of your bag, so you can do things that much quicker. As it stands, the main commander of my platoon liked me so much, that he offered to give me a couple hours off to go home if I wanted them. I hang with you guys, and I take the army seriously, so I'd like to think I'm a good soldier, but most of the guys in my platoon are just there to get there medical profile lowered (I was a pleasing anomoly to the commanders), so they don't give a flying rats ass, which is why he likes me so much. It got to the point where the commanders would give the platoon work and exclude me. I'm not an ass though, so I joined in and helped anyway. Would you believe I got commended for that? Anyway, I've got to go, because I'm dead tired, and I got to shower and eat before I collapse. I'll write more next time I can. By the way, they shaved my head worse then a crystal ball. It looks really, really, really bad. Sorry, racegal! "Retreat, hell! We just got here!"-Captain Lloyd Williams, 2nd Marine Division, Belleau Wood, France, WWI |

Thankx dude. This may sound corny as hell, but when I'm waking up at 5 AM and counting down times and yelling my throat hoarse, I'm thinking of my friends who are soldiers (that includes you guys) and how I'd like to make them proud by being the best I can be.
