Damn computer is giving me trouble again. It's running super slow and when I go to task manager it shows my CUP running at 100% but, no processes are running. I think it's a virus but it's taking FOREVER to run a check on it because of the CPU usage. Gona run the anti-virus software all night tonight and see if it can finish while I sleep. If this doesn't work the only thing I known to do it reformat. If you don't hear from me in the next few day you know why. Ugly But Well Hung |

Dont forget spyware, THIS MS product actually works well, and it's free, been using it for a year or so. http://www.microsoft.com/athome/securit ... fault.mspx A 9mm MAY expand, but a 45 will NEVER shrink! |

Dice, Boomers right that Spyware is a prime suspect, but there are a few lesser known issues out there. One thing you can do (assuming you are running NT, 2000 or XP) is to get up Task Manager, select processes and sort by decreasing CPU utilisation (click the header of the CPU column twice). Then tell me the name of the process that's grabbing all the CPU. If it's Framework services I think I can help you out. Then check what Anti-virus software you use and what version of Windows you run on? If your AV is McAffee, It might be what was causing or IS dept some headaches a few weeks ago. But we now have a patch for it. You're born, you keep your head down and you die. If you're lucky... Edited by - 44hollowpoint on Aug 02 2005 05:51 AM |

Thanks for the replies guys. I did a “system recovery” last night and it seems to have taken care of my problem. Not sure what happen and I haven’t reinstalled all my added hardware drivers yet but, hopefully whatever it was is gone now. Ugly But Well Hung |
