The first was Barry Sanders, who, after appearing on Madden 2000's cover, abruptly retired despite still being healthy and dominant. This was followed by Eddie George in 2001, who bobbled a key pass in the playoffs and was injured the following year. 2002 brought hell to Daunte Culpepper, who immediately starting feuding with receiver Randy Moss and watched his stat line plummet. Marshall Faulk was injured after appearing on Madden 2003, but the harshest example of the curse at work was in 2004, when rookie sensation Michael Vick broke his leg one day after Madden 2004 shipped to retail. Madden 06 features Donovan McNabb on the cover. We might already be seeing some ill effects as he's already started having issues with the problematic Terrel Owens, but we won't know if the curse is still valid until he breaks his neck or something.
