Dice this is one for you or anyone that can shed some light on this subject. I just spent Labor Day weekend at Myrtle Beach State Park. One day I was able to get to the old base and the A-10/A-7 display at the old front gate area. Anyway I have a few questions.
First is this really 79-097 Dawg Hawg? It does have those numbers and nose art on it. Also does anyone remember these guys?
Pilot Capt Stephen Phillis
DCC MSgt Glen Yoho
ACC SSgt John Snapp
These are the names on the old girl. The paint looks really bad. I know the guys that painted her last in 1997. Looks like she could use a new paint job ASAP.
As for the base it breaks my heart to see some of the old buildings in such bad shape. However a lot has been done and things are looking better than in they have in a while.

Fender, yep that's the aircraft. It spent it whole life at MB until being placed on a "stick" in 1992 following Desert Storm. I believe there may have been some airframe damage from DS which caused it to be placed there but, I would have to look further into my files.

I just realized I put this in the wrong forum. Sorry about that, can someone move it to the right forum?
