As you may have noticed I'm doing a lot of computer work this week. I have my password for my website FTP storied in windows explorer but, have lost my hard-copy. Is there a way to view/change this password in explorer so I can get into my site? Ugly But Well Hung |

Not that I know of off the top of my head. Why not just change it the next time you log into your site? You might be a "Bulldog" if: You bend over and grab your ankles when you hear: "EXERCISE, EXERCISE, EXERCISE!" |

They don't have one of those "Forgot your password?" links? Most file-sharing/FTP/picture-hosting sites have some sort of 'security question-incase-you-forget-your-password' type of setup, but if not then I don't know how you'd go about resetting/recovering your password. Maybe look for a 'Contact Us' link on the site and explain what's going on...? Back to your original statement, you say you have the password stored in Windows Explorer - how exactly do you mean? Like Internet Explorer, meaning that when you go to the website it auto-fills the login/password info for you? If that's the case, then for future reference I'd advise against having IE "remember" your passwords - for several reasons (not trying to preach, but I just wouldn't do it, this case being one of those reasons). If you've already installed a new version of Windows or whatnot, I'm thinking that your stored password is already gone. I'm thinking you'll have to go about contacting someone related to the FTP site to get this straightened out, Dice... unless someone else knows how you can "recover" stored passwords. Good luck, man. Just so I understand you right. Is it an FTP site an ISP hosts for you or your own FTP site on your own server. If the FTP site is on your own box, you can probably get a brute force cracker. But if you tried using it on an ISP's FTP site, they'd probably view it as a hack attempt (which lets face it, it is!) and drop your connection from your IP address and then you'd be really screwed. So if it is an ISP thing, the best thing to do is contact their helpdesk and they will probably have an email addy of yours that they can post a new password to. But just in case, I've made a few phone calls to some of our tech heads (who really shouldn't be involved in this sort of thing, but are) to see if they know. You're born, you keep your head down and you die. If you're lucky... Edited by - 44hollowpoint on Sep 20 2005 08:16 AM |

Found my password for my website today!! Went to get a new sticker for my car and when I looked in the glove-box THERE IT WAS, don't know how long it been there but I would say at least 11 months! 44, no more "save my password" for me!
