| Post subject: | My new/old AR |
I bought an origional Colt AR-15 back in 1978. Somewhere I have pics of it then. However, for me anyway, the greatest thing about AR's, is how easy it is to change them. New hardware, furniture and upgraded parts allow my rifle to change and grow with my own personal desires. One of the first things I'd changed was to replace the stock with a telescoping, (2 position) stock. I later replaced the barrel with a way too short, 10\" heavy walled subgun barrel. Then I put the old 20\" barrel on a new A-2 upper. That, along with the origional lower was stollen during a burglery of my home, but I still had the origional upper with the shorty barrel. Added a new DPMS lower and parts kit and some other accessories like scope, red dot, and the list goes on. The worst part though, was that I couldn't take it out to play at Civilian ranges. You can spot that shorty a mile away and the muzzle report is unmistakeable. So I just got in a new 16\" M-4 style upper, with a flat top. In an earlier post I wrote about the problem with needing rail risers for different optics to get the line of sight just right. I was more than a little POd that these risers are so damned expensive. The cheapest I'd found on line was $55. Well this weekend I got a kitchen pass and went to the local gun shop in Torrington WY. They had a riser, just the right height, for only $12.99! Sweeeeeeeet.
Here it is today, 2 position stock (soon to be replased with a 5 position), DPMS lower, A-2 style grip, DSA M-4 upper and my new riser with the Tasco Red Dot sight mounted on it. Chromed bolt carrier group. The only origional part on this puppy is the charging handle. Here it is with my Berretta VerTec in 9mm and with it's M-3 tactical light. An el-cheapo light is mounted on the rifle.
Still need to get a back up iron rear sight and a 24\" flat top upper that I'll scope and use for long range. |

Looks mighty awesome bro! I am sure that in your hands in particular, that is a very deadly implement of war. |

Thanks Snipe. I've got a few more additions to this one, then planning another AR Build over the next couple of years. Thinking about a long scoped version, or maybe even a .308. |

I want an AR-57 5.7x28mm upper for mine. And an FN Five Seven to go along with it. I want them bad. Real bad. |
