Hey Mudd, you being the ford man that you are, how difficult is to to drop a V-8 in place of a V-6 into a 94 Mustang. capche-capche da - we go forward together Faugh ah Ballaugh -Clear The Way- |

To be honest their is much more to a conversion of a v-8 into a V-6, First the Computer will not run it and is not wired for 8 cylinders. This will require the internal harnes, engine harnes, and the v-8 Computer, and when you change harnes you got to deal with the whole PATS issue (3 seperate anti theft harnesses) next the hydraulic/boost brake system and the Heavier duty Axles is not in the V-6, and lastly you would need new Springs and Transmission/Bellhousing. The Cheap route is to Buy a Used GT, IF you look at the Cost of doing a swap on the high end of components. meaning New components, you would easily be over 21 Grand. Figure 2500 For tranny, 4000 For Crate Engine, another 1200 For the accesory swap components, hoses etc, 500 For a radiator, AC bracket and its heat exchanger Unknown but i bet its not cheap, 4 Wheel Disc Brakes, yada yada. It is cheaper to buy a used Modular gt in the 7000 Dollar range, Ive seen Cobras for the 96-98 year go for around 8-12,000 and 99+ go for around 12-15,000 With the 03-04 terminator (forged S/C) go around the 19-25,000 Range. I own about 4.5 modular GT's, A couple 96-98 Cobras (being used to build a track racer) The wifes 96 i recently swwapped a 01 Cobra into, and my 04 Cobra (my 03 was arsoned at a autobody shop) I am really not a Ford Man per say, I actually prefer Vettes, but, the reason why i have fords, is that they are very cheap, and are the basis of a Hobby project car, The Modular in the 281 Ci SOHC/DOHC has so much potential its unbelievable. It is a labor of love. My s/c 4.6 is in the 700's and the 5.4L s/c is 834HP+ and i was ripping tires and slipping on the dyno, We even put scrap engine parts in the trunk... We have no idea what its putting down with 32PSI of boost. So we detuned it to 725 With a conservitive A/F on 72lb Injectors. It is a Monster, and not Streetable. So as you can see, For a guy that wants a CAr to project out. the Ford GT/Cobra is perfect for this. Plus they are the highest saleing domestic sportscar. Which means that parts are highly prevalent and cheap. I have seen a guy that did a newer v6 conversion one over at mustangworld.com, and i believe it was in the user rides gallery, and he dropped in a 99+ Cobra engine His car is easily a 25,000 Dollar investment. if the v6 is not your thing and you have no use for it as a econoy type driver, I would Get the car you want from the beginning. ut a GT or Cobra. That's kind of what I thought just wasn't sure if I wanted to get rid of the car but it was the wife old car and well while I was in Korea she killed it. I'll just rebuild the 6 that's in it and sell or pass it down to my son. Thanks for the hint about autotrader I'll check it out. capche-capche da - we go forward together Faugh ah Ballaugh -Clear The Way- |

I raced a super-charged(aftermarket) SN-95 V-6 Stang the other night. I felt so bad after smoking him the first time i gave him a 3 second head start the next light. Guess i shoulda made it 5 seconds... LOL. "One should die proudly when it is no longer possible to live proudly." ~ Friedrich Nietzsche |
