Well, I would have preferred a 30mm round center point mass, but in case you read this before the news web sites, 4 ID and some SOF teams nabbed Saddam in a rural farmhouse near Tikrit. He was living in a 6 x 8 foot hole underground, and looks like crap. He did not resist apprehension.

It will be interesting to see what the US does with Saddam...will he end up in The Hague like Milosevic or let the Iraqis do it?

Either way, this really changes things in Iraq, I suspect the FRE activities will decrease now that Saddam is under wraps. I believe they held out hope he was going to lead a resurection of the Ba'th party. It doesn't seem like he was doing much other than hiding like a scared rabbit!

Now, where's Usama?

Cheers! M2

I have said it before, I am just a crew chief and I cant relate to a soldiers perspective. Having said that, I am thrilled for the 4th ID guys. They got turned away from Turkey, sat on their boats for months, and then took alot of casualties in some of the hardest fighting after they finally got into the fray. I take my hats off to them and send them my prayers and gratitude for a an extremely well fought and well deserved coupe. HARUMP !

By this time tomorrow I shall have gained either a pearage or Westminster Abbey........Nelson

Ding Dong the wicked #$%^ is dead!!! HAHAHA!!! He was found lower than dirt back to his roots! Scum of the earth, literally!!! Perhaps they should give him that electrode treatment much like they did that guy in the movie Jackass. Let that get info on the WMD out of him!!!

WTG US Military folks! Nice Xmas present for your commander in chief!

I'll second those comments on the 4 ID, they have more than made up for their delayed entry into this conflict! Oddly enough (or maybe not), Iraq does have the death penalty, so it would be pure justice to see Saddam tried and hung by the Iraqis.

Cheers! M2

I am still of the mind that Osama has been dead for a long time now.

But that would be a nice three way hanging. :)

Most probably the virgins are 300lbs toothless, 70 years old, and jewish by birth.

Did you guy see that MSNBC is reporting Saddam told our guy not to shoot. Seems he likes breathing too much, now Sniper could we get Colonel West in the interrigation room.

Kinda interesting dilemma, doncha think? What would you do in that situation?

If you shoot/kill Saddam, and claim he pointed the pistol at you, you’d have the dead body to show the world and that would be the end of it. Of course the Arabs would accuse you of shooting him (and they’d actually be right for a change), but so what?

You don’t shoot him (as happened), and now you face the question of what to do with him. I have heard the suggestion of letting the Iraqis try him with international legal assistance. What happens if it turns out to be like the Nuremberg Trial (Göring has a lot to say about the actions and reasoning within the Third Reich. In his testimony he states, "during the war I was an officer, a soldier, and I was not concerned with whether I shared an opinion or not I had merely to serve my country as a soldier." Göring never accepted responsibility for his actions under the Third Reich) or Milosevic, who has insisted that the ICTY is “a political tool of Western alliance.”

Saddam was a ruthless but cunning dictator, nobody could survive that long under those conditions without being smarter than your average Iraqi, which isn’t saying much. Their legal system doesn’t really understand the judicial system as Saddam simply laid out the law, so there is a relative lack of knowledgeable lawyers and judges. How well could the international community steer them, or guarantee they will make the right judgment?

It will be interesting to see how this all pans out…

Cheers! M2

well the advantage of capturing him alive is they can now get information, and I think the Iraqis can hand this trial and I think they deserve to try him.

Where's Judge Roy Bean when we need him? Give him a fair trial then hang his lily white a$$ in the breeze. As for Usama, that coward is hiding behind the skirts of Pakistan; Omar floats back and forth between AF and PK. But we're watching, and as we've just seen in Iraq, we can be very patient...

Hajji, you can run, but why die tired?

Did you hear Olie North this morning the magic words to get Iraqis to talk it "Git Mo".

Loosens even the tightest lips.

My personel opinion thinks that when he starts singin', he is going to tell all about France and German machinations to keep us from going to war. I think that we are going to be able to blackmail the crap out of France to keep the dirty little secrets a secret.
