The other day I overheard some friends talking about the Hog, so of course I had to drop in and take part in the conversation. Now, I've heard some pretty crazy things in my day, but one of the guys claimed that the Hog would stall if the trigger were to be held down for a few seconds. My little mind immediately threw up the BS flag, but I said nothing because I didn't have the facts handy. But I do know that if you put a 40,000 pound airplane in a dive at 350 knots, it's gonna take a LOT to slow it down. Maybe he had heard about the gun gas causing compressor stalls? I don't know. But I would like to know - how much does the aircraft really slow when the gun is fired?

No unfortunately, the 30mm is a whole lot of Conquering Whoopass in Jet. But it is not powerful Enough to Stop Or slowdown for that matter the Highly agile and Blood Thirsty A10. IF it maintained a sustained burst, it has been mentioned to match a single engine in thrust. However the Gun is Shot in Less than 3 Second Bursts at a time. I'm Sure someone Here will Correct me on the actual Dwell time of the trigger.

As reported by many Combat Hawg Drivers Here. Nobody has ever noticed, witnessed The jet stop. However it has Been Known To cause time to Stand Still For those on the Recieveing end as If the fury of God and American Diplomacy was upon them!

Hey Thud, I've heard the same thing about it stalling the A-10, and I believe I heard it on a history channel-type documentary. I have also heard, especially on this forum, that it is BS. <img src=newicons/anim_bs.gif border=0 align=middle> I think the documentary was pertaning to a barrel-melting length of a trigger-pull, and going simply by the recoil force rate vs. the engine thrust rate without the hog being in a dive, more of a level flight I think. Either way I think the forces of physics or heat effects would prevent this from ever REALLY happening.
