I would have posted this in the door art section but it's also a question on a Hawg patch so I wanted to make sure everyone seen it.

I have a door art which shows a Hawg in a bathtub holding a GAU-8 and it's pretty easy to guess what the bathtub means and the GAU-8. A friend of mine just put a patch (which he knows nothing about) in the display case at the SPO...now I know where the idea for the door came from!! My question is does anyone know anything about this patch or the door it was painted on?? As you can see there is nothing on the patch, or door, to give me a clue....M2??

Look for him in the global, if the guard's included. He's at Barnes now. Major type.

I have that patch, looks a lot better in real than in pics. I was told it came from the 138 TFS, the "Boys from Syracuse," who converted from A-37Bs to Hawgs in 1979. As you know they converted to the F-16A "FastAss CAS" starting in 1988 and finished in March 1989. No comments on that...

Maj Ed Sommers is in the USAF White Pages (go to the USAF Portal at https://www.my.af.mil/gcss-af/afp40/USAF/ep/home.do and you can look people up via the White Pages to the right of the web page). I will email you his work email address if you can't find it.

Cheers! M2

Thanks for the info guys, I kinda' figured you would know something about the patch M2. I'll email the major and include a picture of the door and see what info he can provide.

Not to mention it's a cool looking patch!

Speaking of patches...TG, do you still need a better shot of the one I sent you?

So, you have trouble. We all have trouble. Build a bridge and get over it.

It is, the tanks are a lot more obvious in real. I was real happy to score it a while back, but in my senility I am really happy to score any patches lately...

Cheers! M2

Hey Sped is one of our pilots at Barnes. As a matter of a factoid I just helped recover him a couple hours ago. Cold enough to freeze the balls off a brass monkey I tell ya. Anyhoo I will give Sped a call..................better yet I may see him tomorrow night at the NCO club for the new skippers reception. I will get the skinny on the door and the patch.

By this time tomorrow I shall have gained either a pearage or Westminster Abbey........Nelson

Sorry I haven't gotten back to you. Your email got lost in the pile of emails and the "Exercise Exercise Exercise" calls over big voice. Shouldn't need another pic, it's just been on the bottom of the pile. I'll get it to the patchy shop this weekend. I'm going on leave, so I'll have someone pick it up when it's ready.

So Sped finally made it to the gaurd. He mentioned something about it in the desert not to long ago.

Its funny because when he got home from the desert he litterally dropped his nags on the floor in OPS said "I DO" and turned and left for the desert with us. A great great guy.

By this time tomorrow I shall have gained either a pearage or Westminster Abbey........Nelson
