No the army does not have any A-10's
the only branch or country that has them is the US Air Force

Welcome 19Kilo. The good ole USAF has rightfully kept the A-10 to itself.

Newbie here,

how come no other country has A-10's? are the hogs being banned from being sold outside of the united states or there are no takers?

I've always taught of the a-10 as the modern day version of the a-1, which I saw in "flight of the intruder" and heard about in CSAR and CAS missions in vietnam from discovery channel's "Wings."

It is a matter of economics in most cases. With few exceptions most nation's Air Forces are too small to commit a number of aircraft to a single mission (i.e. CAS). Israel one would think would appreciate an anti-armor specialty aircraft like the HOG.....almost every conflict in its 50 year history has had major armor engagements...and THEY couldn't commit to a single mission jet...they may be killing armor today...but strike/air superiority etc etc may be a higher priority earlier in the war...or later! and they need to be able to swing to other missions with capable jets...plus I think they were confident their armor people were far superior to the competition...hope this might partially answer your question.

this topic is my fault guys....I was thinking on the way into work Monday that it was about time for the "Hogs transfered to the Army" question to rear its ugly head... I realized at the time my error but I didn't want to say anything about it and hope I didn't jinx us....<img src=icon_smile_blackeye.gif border=0 align=middle>

Actually, a bud recently told me he heard one nation recently asked to buy some A-10s...I am not sure if that fact is classified or not, so I won't go into any details; but it is an interesting proposal. However, I am not sure if the US will go for it.

Cheers! M2

I don't know about recently, but I did read in one of the A-10 books that the country apart from the US to come closest to buying the Hog was Thailand.
