Sorry I seemed to have missed the festivities for starting Matts relief fund. My jet had a big bird strike down on the range by Warren Grove. They think it was a buzzard. 350 feet of the deck at 320 knots. The #1 nacelle is going to have to be replaced. I will send someone a couple pics to put up. It force the nacelle ring back into the main door and punched a hole in it. The main door is buckled and the inlet ring is toast.

By this time tomorrow I shall have gained either a pearage or Westminster Abbey........Nelson

No but our structural guys were very impressed with the quality of the repairs that had been done when you guys were in the desert. Very nice stuff.

The experts did those,it wasnt one of those "Get it in the AIR NOW"
fixes.
If it didnt have "JB WELD" I didnt do it.

Did they get the part for you?

Speaking of ABDR, why is that only done at the depot level now? There's no more bases anymore that have the old F-105/F-4/F-100 in the fire pit used for ABDR that has patches all over it where holes have been made and repairs fixed.

Anyone remember those times?

Hi Bill

I remember a similar problem some 20 years ago on ac 78-0611 Arthur Burgess's old jet when a Canadian Goose hit the #1 nacelle up at the range and landed at Syracuse. I believe that we R&R the engine up there and gave it a one time flight home and when it get back the nacelle was R&R. I think that only T.J. and Mike Burgess are the only ones around to still recall that one and I thought that 500ft AGL was the limit and not 350ft.

On second thought it may have been the #1 nacelle on ac 78-0630.

Wrench and $$$$ in hand <img src=newicons/anim_lol.gif border=0 align=middle> Who needs a stinking TO?
its just like a Chevy, if you take it apart and put it back together and end up with extra parts its good to go!
That Cowl should fit ok,it was made only a few months apart.
