I can't help but feel these aren't authorized videos...

Make sure you watch the part where the truck is forced off to the side of the road...

I wouldn't be too sure about them being unauthorized. With population and air traffic densities in Europe being what they are, and with the availability of LLTR's (Low Level Transition Routes) how else would you get low level training conducted? Fly over the beaches in the winter. No tourists to complain, the fishermen are farther out to sea, and the training has to be done. The dessert stuff, let's just say the lack of a complaining population will suffice.

The European nations have gone for super-manuverability over BVR in their designs as of late. We have the advantage in BVR, they have accelled in their WVR capabilities. How better to maximize your advantage that to get low and lost in the ground clutter. Yes radar advances have limited the ground clutter invisibility, but nothing is perfect and a Dopler shift sensing system puts out a HUGE energy signature.

You can only get better at something if you do it constantly and get comfotable doing it.

Hello i m new here but it s cool i love the news HOGS pictures ! awsome !
but back to the subject : the MIRAGE movies are shot in DJIBOUTI a small part of AFRICA (the "Horn of AFRICA") we are comitted to AFRICA through our history but here WOW ! no ATC ! no rules ! i really love the babe on the beach ( maybe in France?) and the TRUCK and people by the roads ! very FUNNY ! of course i know the military professionnals may frown but theses movies are so COOL ( i saw once a RAF Jaguar in sail in sauudi arabia leaving dust trail in the desert and some USAF F 15 - F 16 doing some relly low passes on runways) so what !

I really am proud of my fellows pilots ( i m FRench) and i appreciate the guts (more than brain ?) - fly safe - Philippe

to growler67 : here in Europe we are in high density poulation area my country is only 2 jets hours to cross in any direction ! there is some low level corridors here and there in France but africa is where the outlaws rules ! LOL ! theses movies are unauthorized but tolerated because in AFRICA there is no one in the desert ! i met a French colonel who used to fly F 100 supersbre and jaguar in the 70 in djibouti and once with a full squdron they broke the sound barrier over Djibouti downtown capital during some events (civil war) and evrybody stopped cold ! end of the civil war in one low pass ! (The french military are here to protect this small countries from Khadafi !)
concerning the BVR capabilities check the MICA performance and in particular the infrared version ( with net BVR capabilities for ultra long staelth attacks !) - the Rafale really rules (our navy are just discovering theses capabiliteies with helemet mounted sights these missiles performs in any conditions!)

Of course i think that a lot of jaws must be dropped at the F 22 " spaceship" by some French aviators but i think for all rounds and carrier capabilities the RAFALE is impressive too...

nice website see ya soon -

As cool as this series of videos is, I found one video that blows it away. http://www.patricksaviation.com/videos. ... o=download

Low level over flat terrain isn't as cool unless you do it like these guys. Even if it's an illusion done with camera angles. The threat of rapid deceleration trauma induced by terrain makes this one awe insiring. Soundtrack of Evanescence is spot on too. Sorry no direct link, 175MB and 3:52 run time, but worth it.
