One of the JAWS test paint schemes. Experimented with in Europe in the early 80's but never adopted by the USAF. Dice or some of the others here could give you the whole run down.

Yeah I was figurong a European Scheme. I was in Europe Dec 80-Dec 82, but never saw anything looking that way!

TDY'd to Crooked Creek in 83 while with 75th @ England......dont remember ever seeing or hearing about anything like it.

Sorta cool though if it was your bird and was only one like it though huh?

These paint schemes were from the 57th TTW at Nellis from Nov 1977 to Sept 1978. Five colors were used Gray, Darkgreen,Olive green, Brown and Tan
Only four? Jets were painted this way
75-258 used all five colors
75-258 @ 75-262 used four colors (no gray)
75-260 used no tan

When the A-10 was ordered. The USAF ask for ten prototypes later this was changed to only six. These four were the last of the ten prototypes and became the first four production jets.
