Hello, I'm new on this forum and I have a little question:

It's about a the OA-10, I know it's the observation-mod of A-10 and I wanted to know what are the main features added/removed on this version? Is there a difference of look between A-10 and OA-10? How many OA-10 haven been built? Are there some still in operation?

Thanks for everything and sorry if my english is not that right ;)

The only difference between and A-10 and an OA-10 is who climbs up the ladder.

Though not the most current, I haven't actually worked A-10's since 1981, I believe that the only real differance between the A-10 and OA-10 is the mission they are given. They have the same aircraft, just different loads for different jobs.

The OA-10 is used to designate the Forward Air Contoler, (FAC), mission. During VN, FAC's flew O-1 Bird dogs, 0-2 Skymaster (Push me-Pull you), and the OV-10 Bronco (my favorite). Later they used the OA-37 Dragonfly for this mission. FAC's have always wanted a slow moving, highly manuverable, sturdy aircraft with a little more firepower for the times they come across something and there are no other assets available. Nice to see they have that these days. They often find them selves Trolling for enemy fire to find the bad guys.

No, Coach told you the pilot also matters.

The OA and A are funded in separate lines and "colors" of money but, I guess only the "bean counters" would care about that....<img src=newicons/saevil.gif border=0 align=middle>

Yes, they are supported by different money. But, operationally, the ONLY thing that makes them different is the pilot and his training.
