Chief 966, Dice-man and Coach,

Did 966 do the bean field trip in April of 89? I was there in April for the crash investigation of 80-0183 (Bentwaters jet that crashed near Benwick) and my cohart from McClellan was there investigating the incident with 966. I saw the jet and the nose gear was gone and a lot of damage to the front of the jet. Could see the bath tub hanging out it took so much sheetmetal off. Can't remember if there was wing damage or not but, as I recall, the mains were still intact. BTW, Col James Kelly (Alconbury vice commander) was the Safety Investigation Board president for the 0183 crash.

The bean field accident occurred in Germany and the jet was there for several months before it was flown back to Bentwaters. I think the accident occured in the summer of 88.

The other accident happened right after I left in early 1989, the guy flew into the ground just north of the Marham Railyards while doing a SAT. Good kid, too. 510 TFS also.
