Can someone help me out on a project I'm working on? I need the core and fan speed at idle/50%/100%. You can email me the info at phatom2@aol.com and thanks in advance for the help.

Its been a while since I got out but let me give it shot.

NG Idle 64%, Mid. Power 85%, Max. 95%

NF Idle 25%, Mid. Power 70%, Max. 85%

Naturaly all the setting's I gave are from ground runs which will vary depending on aircraft location. Like Barnes in December compared to Al Jarbar in August.

At Nellis/Dessert Enviro
Core: Idle 64%, Mid 87%, Max 96%

Fan: Idle 25%, Mid 67%, Max 83-85%

Dice, I guess you could average between the two of us now but I think we are close enough to make you happy.

I'm thinking more along "Gifted's" line as well.
Dice is probably mentioning RPM's at those %'s

If I remember right you can find the RPM vs Percent breakdown conversion in T.O. 2J-118-1-1 it used to be T.O. 1A-10A-1-1 both T.O.'s numbers may have changed by now. There were used for test cell operation. Then there is always the basic engine T.O. 2J-TF34-1 those conversion's may also be in there.

Ahhhh crap. I just got home a minute ago, and I did indeed do an engine run tonight, but I totally forgot about this. (We were at work for 10 hours and did NOTHING. Spent the whole night waiting on engines, weapons and specs, we were only occupied by trying not to die of boredom).
What I can tell you off the top of my head:

Idle-
Core RPM - 64-68
Core Temp - I'm having a total brain fart right now.
Fuel Flow - approx 400pph
Fan Speed - I believe about 25? I don't pay much attention to that one)

85%
Core RPM - duh, 85
Core Temp - 700ish
Fuel Flow - IIRC about 1500pph
Fan Speed - I think about 60 or 70

Max -
Core RPM - avg 92 (I've seen it low as 89 and as high at 94 once)
Core Temp - high 800s?
Fuel Flow - sorry, but this is the last thing I'm looking at on a max run
Fan Speed - about the same as the core RPM, 90ish or so.

I'm really sorry I forgot to write these down. I had meant to bring my camera to work and take a video clip of the whole thing from off->idle-> max, but totally forgot.

I will make sure to check on Monday. I am pretty sure we will have at least 2 due then.

I always thought your Temp couldnt go above 835.C + or - 5c
But fan speed at MAX was 85%+ or - 3% Core 92% the pilots could break the wire and get a Max of 96% core and 87% fan in a Emergency but not for long.

Wasnt the lower the Core temp at MAX the longer the engine lasted, the hotter would be a faster engine but wont last as long.???

Damn I cant remember anymore. I have the TF-34GE100 teaching manual around here somewhere.Igot it from the EX when she worked in Engine shop and she got it from the TECH Rep.
I havent seen it in years.

I called the VA to see why I was sent a Death Notification letter To tell them "I'M ALIVE! ,but the VA told ME "No your Mistaken We show you as being DEAD.

Back in the late 80's there was a HSLI ,Hot Section Life Improvement, modification done to the engine's which put the new max ITT at 865c. The best part of this modification in my opinion was the new transition liner in HPT,High Pressure Turbine, section of the engine.

The new type liner saved a LOT! of engines from over tempting when pilots flew their aircraft Out Of The Envelope. A lot of times when they did over tempt the hot section ended up melting down was caused many a single engine landing.

You right Goose the lower the tempt the longer the life of the engine but a lot of pilot use to think the hotter the tempt the faster I go.

I messed-up Mike, I had the MOD ehgines HSLI on 166 I was going by the old figures.
Thats why I need the Guide.

I cant even remember emergency engine procdures anymore only parts.

The last time I went to Grissom the guys their let me sit in the
Ground Simulator and while showing CJ all the buttons and stuff went thru the entire engine checklist from start to finish plus the EPC.

Like it was just Yesterday.
I guess sitting in the cockpit it just comes back, like riding a Bike.

But your right about the Core temp.

I was pretty close the other day. I was dead tired so I was having a really hard time remembering specifics. Whenever I do an engine run, as it's starting, I say everything that should happen out loud in order. This way if something doesn't happen when I say it, I know something is wrong.
Start cycle light on, APU loading up, 10% and oil pressure, 20% and light-off, 30%, 40% and hydraulics, 50%, generator at 52%, 60%, slowing down, idle about 64%.

Idle:
Core - 64-68
Temp - 550
Oil Press - 60 (can be up to 90 until 2 min after starting)
Fan Speed - 25
Fuel Flow - 400

70%
Temp - 600
Fan Speed - 40
Fuel Flow - 600

80%
Temp - 650
Fan Speed - 60
Fuel Flow - 900

85%
Temp - 650
Fan Speed - 65
Fuel Flow - 1600

90%
Temp - 750
Fan Speed - 75
Fuel Flow - 2400

94% (Max)
Temp - 850
Fan Speed - 82
Fuel Flow - 2900

Those are all approximate of course. We didn't even need an engine run tonight. This one was purely for research purposes. It's a little harder than I thought it would be to see the gauges well in the video I took, but when you pause it you can tell well enough. Two video clips are on their way to you Dice, one of a crossbleed start and the other of idle->max->idle.

Goose - I don't know what they were back in your day (<img src=icon_smile_wink.gif border=0 align=middle>), but there are limits for how long you can run at what temps, IIRC, below 745 you can run forever, 745->775 is 15 min, and above 775 only 5 min. The Engine Hot Light comes on at 881.
