How many hogdrivers have logged 4,000 hours in the Hog? Ten to be exact and the last twos just did on September 1st at Barksdale AFB. I thought of sharing this piece of news in the forum and the following is the story written by Sheri Savant from the 47th FS/PAO and published at www.bossierpress.com.

Pilots log 4,000 flight hours each

BARKSDALE – A-10 pilots strapped into their jets like they would any other day, but this time, they would set records, records that very few in the entire Air Force A-10 community have  ever dreamed of achieving.
Lt. Cols. Jimbo Macaulay and Brady Glick, 47th Fighter Squadron A-10 pilots, landed on the flight line Thursday afternoon, Sept. 1, after completing 4,000 flying hours each in the A-10 aircraft.
The two become part of a very elite group of approximately 10 A-10 pilots in the entire Air Force to cross the 4,000-hour mark, three of whom are now at Barksdale.
They flew as part of a four-ship with Col. Bob Tarter, Wing commander, and Lt. Col. David Deaton, Wing chief of Safety, who also recently completed 4,000 hours in the A-10.
“These men are true aviators in the grandest sense,” Tarter said. “This historical accomplishment puts them in a league with few peers. I am very proud of them and honored to have flown with each of them.”
Even more significant than the 4,000-hour milestone, according to Macaulay, was the four-ship combined time record. “It (the four-ship) symbolizes the experience and credibility of our A-10 FTU instructors in the 47th Fighter Squadron,” he said.
The experience the pilots obtain from the many flying hours they rack up, they transfer to students.
“We learn something from every sortie we fly, so it logically follows that experience directly correlates to knowledge, and our job as instructors is to transfer that knowledge to our students,” Macaulay said.
The average A-10 experience of instructor pilots here at Barksdale is about 2,700 hours per pilot, making the 47 FS the most experienced squadron in the world, according to Glick.
After the many walks to and from the jet, neither pilot plans to hang up his gear for the last time anytime soon.
“I love to fly as much now as ever,” Glick, the 17-year veteran A-10 pilot said. “My enthusiasm for ‘strapping on’ an A-10 has never waned over the years, and I’m hoping to fly for many more.”
“There is no other fighter that is comparable,” Macaulay said after completing his 2,500th sortie in the A-10. “The almost daily smell of Hercolite gunpowder from the GAU-8 firing is a necessary tonic that keeps me motivated.
“The race is on to be the first to 5,000,” he said."

Have had the pleasure of meeting Jimbo and Bozz a couple of times. Both were instrumental in organising Hawgsmoke 2004 and both are pilots of the highest calibre and also all-round great guys.

Sherri is nice as well!

I see in the article for one of them it was thier 2,500th sortie. 4,000/2,500=1.6, which makes sense, thats about an average flight time. But about how many hours a year do pilots accumulate? I'm a little surprised the number is so low of pilots who've hit 4,000 hours. That means only 10 still on actuive duty, no? Anyone care to venture a guess how many A-10 pilots total have hit the 4,000 hour mark?

They say that the only two things certain in life are death and taxes. I prefer them in that order.

usmilobserver, do you even bother reading what the rest of us have tried telling you? I wouldn't hold my breath for "proof" from Coach about this at all. I hope you do, but I wouldn't. I know you don't give anything much credit unless you read it on the internet news or something like that where you can cut and paste it, but I know Coach, and so do alot of the other folks on this board, trust us, what he says, can be taken to the bank. Thanks for the offer but No thank you! My post was simply to let people in this forum know about the fact that two other Hog drivers accomplished something worth mentioning in their carreer. I don't do puzzle! I have met both Jimbo and Brady a few times in the past and I must tell you they're great men. It has been a real treat to work with both of them earlier this year!

USMIL observer I am perplexed by your questions and your idea of needing proof while we know so little about you

Can we get accurate GPS coordinates on home so we can test the accuracy of your information by cross referencing the debris and corners identification after a JDAM test.

Who are you will you give away your information as freely as you seek to acquire on others then distribute no mater how sensitive that information might be. You have repeatily hinted at your knowledge of secrete or sensitive information on this site. You have been hinted at with loose lips sink ships, if you want info like this you need to contact in email where the person can choose to or not choose to give you the information. This should not be done in an open forumn, first.

You know I don't often post in this area, seeing as its mainly for you wing wipers (USMILWHATEVER doesn't fall into this group) and I, as a groundpounder, don't like to tread on your turf... and the one thing I would never do, is come in here acting like I know every F***ing thing about the A-10 just because I have a search engine at my fingertips, nor would I ever ask anyone here for "a proof". For one thing you can't "prove" a damned thing on the net, and for another its the same as calling someone a liar.

If you don't believe what someone posts on here fine, don't believe it, thats your choice, but don't come into their proverbial house and call them a liar it tends to piss people off... and pissing off people with a moderator tag under their names can be a bad thing...

Hey Hawg-166 if Hitman didn't get 4000 I doubt if Mott got there yet.Also how was Atlantic City with Bates and Sulu? Did Denny do any stand up renditions of "Danny Boy" at any of the casinos<img src=newicons/anim_bow.gif border=0 align=middle><img src=newicons/anim_lol.gif border=0 align=middle>

Cliff Latta was the USAFE Hog Demo pilot in........88....I think.
Pretty sure he was with the 'Bushmasters' at RAF Woodbridge at that time.

Col.James M.Skiff broke 4000 back in '98, whilst with the 111thFW.
