The top picture of from Operation ALLIED FORCE. I'mpretty sure they flew the comabat sorties with alot less. If that jet wasn't loaed liek that just for a picture, then it was to ferry the stuff over to GDC. See the travel pods on the TER's on 5 and 7?

Jackb, I believe you're right on the "photo op" because when I received this picture from a friend at Spang he said it was a "air power" shot and not real ops.

I like the paperweights!

You mention the 1st pic being a photo op from a friend at Spang? Is that pic taken at Spang?
The way the tabs are and the moutain line in the back ground almost looks like Aviano?

Spent my 1st 2 yrs @ Aviano!
Especially in the early 80's. A crew dawg assigned to a patch that had no acft assigned to it! What a great place!

That wasn't taken at Spang, it was at GDC or ???(I can't remember the name of the other base). I'm in the middle of moving, so my stuff is way to cluttered to check.

EDIT- Also, there is a picture floating around of that one, only with thunderstorm cluds and a lightning strike in progess in the background. That one is photoshopped. The above picture is real.

Sorry I was not clear, the photo was not take at Spang but, the jet is a Spang jet so, I got it from a friend at Spang right after the photo was taken.

jackb, I believe this is the one you speak of, also I did the photoshop work on the image back in 2002 (I think), and used it as one of my wallpapers on the Hogpen one month.

Yes, this was in fact taken in Aviano. A good friend of mine took it while we were TDY there from Spang. The HAS that it was taken next to was almost directly across from the support has. Probably 96' or 97'
