IMHO they should fire up the factory again and build about 500 more brand spanking new aircraft, instead of just making the wings.

Can you tell I'm just a little biased?

It'll be interesting to see what the price for this is. About a year and a half ago I was at the KAL maintenance facility in Korea and one of the things they proposed was a new wing. Their price for the center and outer sections was 1.1 million complete. I'm willing to bet my next retirement check the Air Force won't even come close to that.

Though it's not surprising, with the price of real estate down there, it is a pitty Republic's blgs are coming down. My brother went to Polytechnic institute for aerospace engineering, right next door to it in '84-'88. I remember looking over at the bldgs and thinking, "how cool...that's where it all began!"
Makes me wonder if Polytec is there anymore, too...
It would be sweet to see them decide to make some more hawgs though.
Of course now they would have swept wings, internal stores, and be about 25% as effective...

Maybe you can do BPO / PR 's fpr the guys at the Bag. They only have 3 seven levels on the flightline. I ema it would be prop bono work for you but the MRE's at least can be heated and the tents I hear arent all that bad.

Sorry Coach I'll stick to the "fun" subjects like my door art and leave the "hot" topics to the people who get paid the big bucks to handle things like this.

Got to go to work now, those F-16s aren't going to fix themselves....

I am not talking military world, come to the civilian world and watch who makes it up the food chain--especially in the medical field. Look who was in control of the planning for hurricanes down here in Louisiana--lets just say they were not brightest bulbs, yet they continued to rise to the top as they do not make noise (not sweeky wheels).

I understand Dice, you dont know who's watching,

Maybe when they get down to Moody they'll have GS/GW Slots you'd be closer to home and around the Hawg.

Can anyone give creedance to KAL biding to build A-10s from the ground up instead of just building new wings for the SLEP line?

Ummm, KAL never offered to build new A-10's, they offered to build new wings. SLEP, by the way, is NOT new wings, the program repairs old wings though that's a bit of a simplification of what really happens. As far as building a brand new A-10, that will never happen..instead, you'll see the JSF (maybe).

Roger that, didn't mean to imply that SLEP was "New" wings. Was just curious if there was any truth to the rumors heard bout KAL. Thanks OC

If you were going to buy counterfeit, reverse-engineered, not quite right A-10s; Korea would be the place!

Dunno Coach, had a chance to get up close and personal with some of the F-4's KAL did for the Korean Air Force..DAMN, they looked like they were right off the MD line. They don't seem too bad at working another companies' stuff though their original designs leave more than a little to be desired.
