I know that this should go on the door art page , but I wanted to get it out to as many folks here as I could and I know some of you dont stray from the Hog Chat section. As most of you know we at barnes are going to be loosing our A-10's by May of next year. We had originally wanted to go initial issue through supply to keep all of our doors that have beeen painted but it aint going to happen. Each new door costs $ 24,600 and that equates to a quarter of a million just to preserve ten doors. One of our R&R guys that has a real talent for woodworking; he makes flag holders, coin holders, and shadow cases, came up with a great idea. He has recreated an A-10 door exactly out of wood. It is complete with magnet holder and latch roller. He then takes a high res photo of your door art and paints it on a finished wood door. The door can be painted either grey or left natural wood with a eurethane. They are awesome. I just got mine and he has done two others. Our unit is going to have all of ours done to preserve them. I am sending photos of mine to anyone here that can post them for me. Any volunteers ? The cost will be dependent upon how intricate the art is. Mine was $ 85 and well worth every dime. Lets face it the hawg isnt going to be around forecer and this is an awesome way to keep your door if and when it comes time to replace it, or just because you want it down in your man-town down in your cellar. Anyone interested in posting my pics here for me ? Let me know and I will put them up as soon as you can help me out.

I may have a birthday present then!!!

That is a great idea to preserve the door art.

I have a feeling this guy's going to get more work than he knows what to do with!

WOW that sounds like one great idea and I'm looking forward to seeing your "door" Hawg166. If you and Hitler don't get the photo posting issue worked-out send a copy to me and I'll post it for you.

If this guys wants some free PR I can post what he's doing on my site under the "A-10 store" but, I would need contact info and all that.

Maybe it's time for me to get a door of my own.....

Damn. Hawg166, please e-mail me this guys contact info. I would liek to be able to "keep" my ladder door, since BRAC will be sending my jet to DM this fall.

When I read about painting the "door" gray or leaving it a wood finish I thought why would you leave it looking like wood? <img src=icon_smile_question.gif border=0 align=middle> Looking at your "door" I have to say the wood-grain looks good and that is one nice repo...the dude is good!

Hawg166 didn't he leave the tail number off scarf??

Ya know Dice he would like very much to have you PR for him. Fire him an email and maybe you to could work something out. A little quid pro quo type thing.
