I’ve heard pilots talking about how they can see the bullet stream as they fire the gun but, I’ve never seen this effect before now. Note how the bullet stream looks kinda' like a stream of water as the gun is fired… Pretty cool IMHO…. http://www.warthogpen.com/video_clip_fi ... behind.wmv Visit my A-10 website at http://www.warthogpen.com |

someone posted a picture last year, of the shells just as they exited the gun barrels. A very cool pic. "By this time tomorrow I shall have gained either a peerage or Westminster Abbey !" Nelson the Immortal Memory |

Good video. On the right day, you can see the bullets streaming from your own jet. You don't actually see the bullets but rather the heated air it leaves behind. It kind of gives you a small cylinder of hot air that looks like the air behind a jet engine (or the air above a heated road). PILSUNG! |

The shells don't exit the barrels, they are ran back into the drum. |

I think it was my pictures from last year, showing a similar effect. Here's a couple of them again. Great video, not often you see the view from behind of a gun pass. Really nice video Diceman! I noticed that same effect, though harder to see, when shooting scoped rifles (.308 and 30-06), over a long range. This is the first I've seen it show up on video or film. "Slow is Fast - Fast is Slow" |

I'm always AMAZED! at the stuff you come-up with Dice and alot of the rest of you Folks out there. This rates up there with the Pic of the bullet (not shell) leaving the GAU. Now the question goes too, 1. Does this effect happen at night, like when you fire a tracer round it leaves a trail and does anyone have a Film of that? I'm pretty sure it does but I'm not a Driver. I can't say I've seen this effect at night. It would be hard to notice for a few reasons. With NVG's, the picture gains down (becomes too bright) as the bullets exit the barrels while, at the same time, the cockpit is covered by gunsmoke. But that does remind me of another effect experienced only at night. With NVG's, you are able to self-illuminate the ground with your own flares. However, when you do this as you are rolling in on your target, the shadow created by your own aircraft eclipsing the flare streaks up your canopy. The first couple times you see it, it scares the dong (newly acquired Korean word) out of you because it looks like you are bound for a collision. I doubt anyone has a video of that! PILSUNG!!! |

The only good HUD videos I ever got to see were in debrief after the Airstrikes but we werent supposed too because of the "INTEL FOLKS" But it was amazing the Gun footage you saw while they were attacking a group of trucks and Bump's and everyone running to get away. Thats some video I wanted to get ahold of . Goose They that can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety deserve neither liberty nor safety. Benjamin Franklin, (1706 - 1790) |
