Hi Gerald! What a coincidence, I was just perusing your website < http://www.hawkeyeshobbies.com/index.htm > for the first time after it was posted today at the Aircraft Resource Center website. Glad you were able to resurrect SnJ spray metal, and plan on expanding the color selection (especially after I recently checked my stash and discovered they had become hardened lumps of metal at the bottoms of the bottles, lol)! Take care, and welcome to the board! Crushed under his own mental block... |

I worked TMO back in those days...I drank free most nights cause I was the guy who controlled Port Call flights home and worked US Customs. In the early days of my tour Col Wormser was Wing CC. I still remember the saying "If your a friend of the Worm...your a nightcrawler". Then we got...I'll have to dig out my yearbook to see who took over. I did just about everything in transportation, we were a small entity. I drove shuttle bus between Suwon and Osan for the sports teams; shuttled passengers to/from Kimpo; hauled the mail occasionally; deployed to the P.I. couple times for Cope Thunder; held down a stool at the club (that was part of the job?)and many other fun things like the recovery of the F-20 Tigershark that crashed. Two Team Spirit Exercises. President Reagan's visit. Those were the days! Hawkeye |

H H, I remember ''The Worm'', he was a stickler against fratranizing between ''his officers'', and the enlisted folks. He had that TV show that came from the Wing Confrence Room, and he talked about base news, and the above subject. I hung out at the Country Club bar, and a large group of the pilots did the same. Most of them didn't mind ''hanging'' with the enlisted folks, and a lot of them were on a first name basis with the regulars. At Thanksgiving, a bunch of the regulars got together and purchased a ''ton'' of food, and one of the pilots that we ''hung''with let the girls use the kitchenette in their room to prepair the meal. We ate our meal using the pool table as the dinner table. We had all ranks present, and no one cared. Wasn't it Col. Koz who took over when the Worm left? I have lots of stories. Your web site looks real interesting. Suwon 84-85. Richard E.Ray USAF Ret. |

Yeah it was Col Koz now that you mention it. I had to stand before the man one day during a major exercise. Seems a certain Security Police Squadron Commander at Kunsan didn't like my attitude or the fact that I didn't have my chem gear with me. I had direct orders to deliver a brand spanking new staff car to the Wing CC there. The cops at the gate refused to let me on-base because I didn't have my gear, and the exercise was in full swing. So, being the practical guy I was, I unloaded the staff car off my trailer parked the car at the main gate and handed the keys to the cop inside the guard shack. Cleaned up and hauled ass for home. I was met at our gate by a couple of the good ole boys from our cop shop and asked to follow them to the mans office. I explained it like this...rule says no CWD gear off base during 'exercises' unless you reside off base...second I was directed to deliver that staff car to Kunsan by the Aerial Port Commander at Osan to the Wing CC. Since I wasn't allowed on the base I had an representative of his command sign for and take possession of said car. Col Koz laughed his ass off and called down to Kunsan to their Wing King, who was unaware his new Chrysler staff car had arrived, said their seems to be a miscommunication at his end and Col Koz should drop it at his end. The Col bought me my first beer that night. Hawkeye |
