To all ex 23rd members, and those who would like to know.
The question was asked at Retiree Day at Moody this past Saturday, about the A-10 squadron designation that will be here at Moody when the planes start arriving. The Wing Commander said, they will be the 74th, 75th, and possibly the reactivation of the 76th. The Wing Co said they are trying real hard to get the 76th reactivated as a 23rd squadron to keep the Wing's history alive. Nothing more was said.

It may be possible to wrestle the 76 name back from Space Command, but they probably won't have aircraft assigned. It will most likely be a Reserve or Guard squadron associated with the active duty unit. It will be the admin unit for pilots and maintainers supporting the other two squadrons.

I hate to say it...but I would love to see the 70th back...know it won't happen, but hey, it was my first squadron....

I'm just looking foward to going to visit Valdosta and seeing the old girls flying by again and bump into some old friends!!!

My only question about all this now is assignments. The EQUAL list just came out for July, Aug and Sept overseas returnees and Pope is on the list but not Moody. I thought the jets were supposed to start transfering in the spring?

You might be right but, I hope they do get Jets if it happens.
The 76th belongs with the 23rd and I was PROUD as HELL to wear the Vanguard patch so even if there"A support unit" RED TAILS still have a Great record and should of never went to the SPACE COMMAND.
So lets hope that the Old 23rd is RE-BORN

Maybe we could get 3 STAR "Vanguard 1"SunDowner" to twist some arms to bring the Vanguards home.
