I found another pic taken at England AFB in the 80's and knew I'd better share. Lousy 35mm shot as it was an overcast day and I tried to lighten it up a little. Can't see the tail number but Dice or someone might recognize the door art. Hope she was one someone here used to crew. If it is, it could be you doing your crew chief thing.

Enjoy

Looking back through my door art images I believe this could be the squadron CC's jet 80-0175, showing some damage/repair to the lower part of the door after this picture was taken....what do ya think?

Its before no later than 88 and after 84 with the TEETH being the new ones.
Before the 75TH "Canned Tuna RE-VOLT" inwhich all their Door art was removed and the "75TH door" was adopted.

I dont see any Cover storage boxes which you would be able too see since this bird is facing west on the Black Ramp.

I wouldnt be surprised if this wasnt taken when the 75th was Deployed to CHECKER FLAG in 86 because BLUE was gone to There's at the same time on its way back.

I'D guess Sring of 86

Its not a 175 bird Dice, The TAIL CODE would be Shadowed in White.
That door art is the "Tuna REVOLT" door they had to go to.
I'M thinking that SHARK -1 had just BLOCK LETTERS under it but all still black door with patch..

Just my guessing, like to know under that door in the picture is.

Goose,
The picture was taken in January of 1987 while I was working a Class A Mishap on Acft 79-0212. See previous picture taken the same day. http://forum.a-10.org/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=11090

Dice,

I agree that the door art is the same but, if all the jets in the squadron had that door art, you probably can't determine the tail number. I'll play with the picture and see if I can get any more info.

You're right if they all had the same art.

January 1987? If it was 212 then your right, Lt Johnson was the pilot didnt pull out in time thats the HUD flim of the A-10 scrape the tree tops you see from Time to Time.
It was one of ours, Weaver and Smitty were on the Jet at that time right before THE ORE .
I got to go to Rucker after the Base Funeral 166 was already going to Rucker for TDY so we did the Fly over for the Capt's Funeral at his home in Al.
We brought his jet with us too on the TDY 0179 They Re-did the paint job and Crew Block made her look Pretty, and we gave the Family the Chance with his Widow to see his name and His jet one last time.

We came back and I rode out the ORE in NCO LEADERSHIP and missed the Hawaii trip after that.

But that jet if it was 175 you'd beable to tell with the Shaded Tail Code.
all 3 Squadrons Command birds both year 175's, 174's and 176's all 6 of those Jets had the EL White shaded and the Squadron number enlarged on the jets Shaded.

So if it was 01/87 the TUNA REVOLT hadnt happened yet that happened later that year because Blue section Got "BOZO'ed" on their door art first and they were all painted Blue over some Great Door art and the 74TH PATCH put on, thats were the 75th got the idea.

LTC Cooper and LtCol Renualt wouldnt go for that because of the
"BITCHING" Us Crewdog's put up Plus the Pilots williness to Fork-out the $$$ TO have them painted thats how the 76th Kept their Art.
That was 88 thats where the
"Capt Goose, Mother Goose and Sgt Goose" story came about that spring.

I'm thinking Goose sounds pretty right on with his story on this one!
I was 75th my entire time from Jan 83 thru Jan 86.
Door art wasnt around till mid 84 or later I am thinking. I know alot of guys wanted it and alot thought it was childish?<img src=newicons/tard.gif border=0 align=middle>

If I am remembering correctly, not even all the birds had it when I left there in Jan 86, atleast not the "B" flight birds.

I know I had art for only a short time till bird went phase bound and came out clean.

The so called "Tuna Revolt" is a new one on me, as I never heard of that one Goose! LOL

You remember the 76th called the 75th "Charlie Tuna" Squadron and the 74th was the "Clown or BOZO" Squadron and the 76th was the "Pizza Slice or delivery" squadron or the "Druggies" (Golden flow).

We on the North ramp called it the "TUNA RE-VOLT" its the cleanist I can get here , anyway because they said to us "We'll do what the 75th and 74th did with their doors"<img src=newicons/anim_shock.gif border=0 align=middle><img src=newicons/anim_furious.gif border=0 align=middle><img src=newicons/anim_bs.gif border=0 align=middle><img src=newicons/anim_cussing.gif border=0 align=middle><img src=newicons/pain10.gif border=0 align=middle>and We fought like Hell to keep ours!
And the Commanders OP's and AMU let us do it our way.

Alot of the Guys in the 75th were PISS'ED OFF about the door art thing in 88 and some did put their own work back up to have it Removed.

So we called it the "Tuna-Revolt" in AFLT and alot of other things too.

Remember what started the WHOLE DOOR ART THING?????
Give you a Clue
"Jet was a 74th Bird and had a Female DCC "?
and before anyone says it "It was nothing to do with offending the Crew Chief"
