Hawg166 sent me a couple of nice A-10 pics I posted on my website, they are only 800X600 but still look nice even if you run at a higher screen rez. 583 was the first jet we got from the factory in 79. It is going to be one of the last two that leave for Ft Smith. The other one will be 104. "By this time tomorrow I shall have gained either a peerage or Westminster Abbey !" Nelson the Immortal Memory |

Hey bill if my memory serves me right Joe Jarosz was the first to crew 583. Then Jack Majors and next was Rob Roy. Who has it now ? "GLAD TO HAVE BEEN THERE AND HAVE BEEN PROUD TO HAVE SERVERED" |

Al Salois has it now. Yeah Dice we will miss them but I am personally happy that they are going to people that want them and are at least enthusiastic about them. The guys from Ft Smith were pretty pumped that most of them were one owner jets. And I think that good for them because they will more than likely have them untill they find a final resting place either in a smoking hole somewhere in the desert or in the boneyard. I really pray its the latter. But the guys that I have met or talked to from Ft Smith seem to be happy so its better than an early retirement to the boneyard. Well the ol' girl is in Utah getting a NEW wing. The issue that we spoke about with the bad fuel cell was worse than we thought and it couldn't be repaired except with a new wing. Right now, it will be back in February and then it will be the third or the fourth jet that we let go in May. I am verry happy that she's going to Ft Smith. I think it will be kind of cool to send a jet down and be able send a note to the Crew Chief and let him know who all the crew chiefs have been and be at his disposal for any historical questions as far as maintenance goes. Maybe we should send 166 to Pope or Spang and give Ft Smith one of our 10,000+ hour beauties. Then, in 10 years, they will be at the same hours. Fleet management is coming...get used to it. We have to do it if we expect to keep the A-10 fleet healthy and operational for as long as our nation needs them. We can't have a fleet with half having twice the hours of the other (and continue to grow apart) and not do anything about it. I know this is not what the Guard/Reserves want, but Big AF paid for all the jets, we need to redistribute so the fleet stays healthy. Before anyone jumps on active duty maintenance...dont even go there. This is about management, not maintenance. Coach |

They dont change out jets anymore? We use to get jets from the reserves if we had a major problem with one, like fuel leaks and then they'd send us one from the AFRES we got jets that had hardly 500 hrs on them one time that was 133. That would more sense in the long run to rotate Jets like tires. 166 went to Braksdale from EAFB then to Billy. Goose LIVE FREE OR DIE! |

She's had a Great Home over the last whats it been Billy 10 yrs? I do see Coaches point too ,they need some lower hour jets on Active Duty. Goose LIVE FREE OR DIE! |
