I stumbled upon the site www.airliners.net when looking for A-10 pictures. If you enter \"Thunderbolt\" into the search field you get about 590 medium-res A-10 pics. I got 3 good ones for hog modeling. I didn't expect to find such pictures on a site devoted to civilian airliners.

The disturbing thing is that I didn't find any of these via google which means a lot of pics are *hiding* from me. If anyone has any A-10 pictures taken in midflight that are perfectly from the side top/bottom or front please let me know.

Ah, great idea... now I just got to find as many tail #'s as possible.

(Ok I picked about 10 of them, but I get pictures that were already found with the thunderbolt keyword. This one is really nice though, but not suitable for modeling. http://www.airliners.net/open.file/1180705/L/ )

webshots.com also has a large amount of pics. If you look for warthog there you get 7500 pics. 90% animal warthogs, 8% a-10's and 2% of obscure nature.

That one looks familiar. Looks like it was taken on approach for 03L...I see guys catching pictures outside the fence on that side quite often.

Now a question...why is only one slat up?

Jetphoto's is another aviation site where you can find A-10 shots.

Airliners is great, but they are ANAL when it comes to uploading pictures and many have moved on to jetphotos. You can search through mine on both sites.

Or my own in my sig.

I see some of you know a lot about photography. There's something I've been suspecting for a while but am not sure of. Is it possible that an object on a photo suffers from a bend-deformation on top of normal perspective effects?

I use multiple side shots of an A-10 for my model, but photos that are techically identical still show annoying deformations. I have 2 long distance side views, eliminating perspective distortion. Still, the gun is at different heights relative to the fuselage bottom in every photo.

WarthogHogger,

it sure is possible that pictures show some deformation.

Especially pictures taken by small zoom lenses or the so called very small fish eye lenses might suffer from deformation.

All pictures taken with 50mm or larger lens should not suffer from these effects.
