Ok A-10 gurus I have a question for you. It concerns the location of the Squadron and Wing patches. Now I know Active duty aircraft have them located on the fuselage (Squadron on the left, Wing on the right) but my question is why don’t the Guard and Reserve Jets also have them in that location?

Next question is a test question and one I didn’t realize was there until JackB pointed it out. Where inside the cockpit can you find the Fairchild logo prominently displayed? No, Jack your not allowed to answer this question since you're the one that originaly came up with it [banana]

Fairchild logo? IIRC, it isn't. (I may be wrong as it has been over twenty years since I sat my arse in one.)

Lots of cockpit FO? That's how I knew...was just too late. Enough nights of a light-all shining in the cockpit pulling floorboards, you notice those things...find some interesting things too.

I knew that answer too, due to one of the display Jets at EAFB is missing them :?: :?: :?: , somebody took them for \"Keep Sakes \" and NO it wasn't me   wish I would of thought of it. And they weren't worried about how they came off either. Besides the \"Heads Down in the tub time\"

Now the patch question is probably because thats the way they'd be on your uniform. But we never had Squadron patches on any of our jets, wing on both sides because the tail flashing was Squadron specific .

The thing I spent most nights looking for in the cockpit was those tiny little light bulbs from the armament panel buttons.

My jet is in phase right now and i just spent some headstand time recently drilling out some stripped screws on the floor boards! Plus whenever i do a tire change and utilize the unapproved \"Hammer brake hold\" method they're staring me in the face! :D

If I remember right there is a data plate in the NLG well and/or the inboard left flap track.

Those data plates are all over the jet now. We had a TCTO a while back. There in the flaps tracks, nacelles, fuselage, F-59... everywhere.

I'm sure they are everywhere jack, they are trying to keep up with all the parts that has been swapped around in the last few years. I think the main Fairchild plate is in the nose wheelwell on the lefthand side.

I'll try and get a cam-phone pic today of that plate. It is only visible when there are no variable ballast installed.

Wasn't there a ID plate on the wall that was exposed when you \"Pulled the APU\"? Or I'am I thinking about a \"Trash Hauler?

As far as \"Doing Head Stands\" in the \"TUB\" Those little bitty \"Mic Switch\" BB's and spring was a BIGGY.
OK time to Fess-up , How many of you had \"Extra BB's and Springs\"? :?: [rolleyes] I would look for a few hours then give up, or the \"NCOIC\" would say \"Ok Who's got some \"BALL's\"

The light bulbs I usually found them pretty quick, pencils, pens could take time because the pilot usually missed placed them in his suit but having one loose his \"AFC ring \" and something that big \"YOU HAVE TO FIND\" so you spend 15 hours looking, pulling up panels seat etc... to find out he \"Found it while he was De-briefing\" before he went home and never told anyone until RED LEAD calls him at the house [mad] [angry] [cuss] [cuss] [cuss] [argue] [angry] AND then WON'T BUY US BEER [angry] [angry] [angry] [cuss] [bs]
We'll he had a \"String\" of last minute \"RED X'S\" for \"Fuel and Hydraulic fluid leaks , possible \"FOD\" on every jet he went too until \"COOP\" (Col of OP's) told him to
\"BUY THEM SOME DAMN BEER Lt, OR YOU MIGHT AS WELL NOT EVEN BE A PILOT\" so the 3 cases of beer show-up and then the problems went away.

Some of the crew dawgs that have visited here were in on that.

The best one was during A \"Tiger Thrust\" was finding a \"S&W .357 under the seat [shock] [shock] [!] man that was a \"Hard one\" I really thought about keeping it.
I had it my toolbox all day until a certain \"Pilot\" came out and looked in the Cockpit, and asked \"Uh, Chief you didn't find anything in the Cock-pit did you on this last flight?\" I said \"No, what are you looking for?\"
He had all his color drain from his face [puke] :( so I couldn't keep on screwing with him,
Sir I did find this (The .357) earlier on when you got out of the jet between pilot swap-outs\".

GOT BEER ON THAT ONE :D :D :D

So whats the \"Strangest thing you ever found in a jet?\"

If you see \"Rocky\" ask him about the \"Rolex Watch\" that fell out of 9223 when the jet came back from Depot. Bflt opened up the Hydro panels and it fell out onto the Hangar floor.

Goose..........

I asked about the mic switches in a previous post! I somehow felt you would answer up saying you had extra's! LOL

The AFC Ring? Was that lost by that Great Big SOB you guys had flying in Red while I was there? He played football at the academy was all I ever heard.
I just knew he was big as hell because I had to strap him in once on a launch. We were augmenting Red for some reason or other, who knows!

Supposedly we were told he had special flight suits made, having added material to the sides and the length so he could fit in them. SOme of your Dawgs told our guys if his O2 came unplugged during flight, it stayed that way and he grunted thru it, as he couldnt reach it to connect it.

What bird was it that hit that radio tower cable down south Louisiana?
Might have been a Blue bird................said the pilot heard a loud "POP" , bird ducked hard left, then he realized he had hit the support cable for the tower.
Cable went to the spar and snapped. leaving part hanging in wing!

I think it was a Blue Tail, that was kept pretty (hush hush) I remember either Spud or Steff telling me something about it.
That didn't happen around the same time RED had the MID AIR at REDFLAG was it? 1 jet crashed pilot ejected and the other one landed at Indian Lake with some of the \"Wing Tip missing\"?

No on the pilot but I Know EXACTLY WHO YOUR TALKING ABOUT \"TALL DRINK\"
