I've been saving my 1,000th post for this for a while. I final-out in 2 hours and hit the road after lunch. I'm a little nervous, it still hasn't hit me that I'm PCSing. As much crap thats happened here, I will still definitely miss this place. Now it's off to Moody (or Eielson South as alot of us in APG are calling it). Even working with alot of the same people from here and previous bases at Moody, it won't be the same. This is one of the most unique places I've ever been, and I am extremely glad I got the opportunity to be stationed here while it was available. I have a cool .pdf we got emailed at work, it's 4 pages, a history of the A-10s at Eielson, some interesting stuff there. I can't believe the Hogs have been here for so long. If Dice or anyone else wants it to host for everyone else to download, I will email it to them. |

Jackb. I hope you end not your posting story by this 1000. I don't know if i can congrat you with those many (wise, intresting and humor) postings, because it is a emotional one from you. You can also think, it is an end of one story, but the next avenger is just started. Go for it and keep posting. History of airbases with A-10's i am intrested in. If you want you can mail it to me. |

Have a save trip Jack. Hope the move goes smooth. Another friend of mine was PCS'ing with NCO Academy in route. While there, his orders got changed from Buckley AFB to Cannon AFB, and in the pursueing CF, they lost some of his goods including a couch. |

I drove to Anchorage last night, billeting was full (no surprise there) and I wasn't about to drop $160 for a Motel 6 off base, so I parked in the gym parking lot (so I could shower in the morning) and slept on my front seats. I'm about 3 feet too tall for that to be comfortable, lol. Elmendorf is HUGE. I mean effin TREMENDOUS. I've been here once before but only to the BX. I was driving around this AM thinking no wonder they put the F-22 here and no Eielson, its not fancy enough up there for the golden child of the AF. I did hear at work though that the F-22 is coming to Eielson for cold weather testing... in November. Please, give me a break. I'm driving to Whitter and getting on the ferry later today. I'll arrive in Bellingham on the 4th. Dice, I'm goign to try and email you the A-10 history file in a moment (We'll see if yahoo mail is blocked from the base library) |

What a drive... Got in to Valdosta last night, I'm at the base library now. As soon as I get internet set up at my new house I'll post some more. I see alot of interesting threads I've been missing. I went in to the squadron this morning to see whats up. I still have 10 days of use-or-lose leave to burn though, so I will be bumming around settling in for a while. |
