The end says it was Maj. John Beal who was shot down and later rescued on 22-Feb-1991, but my Hog books and Google searches haven't found anything on this. :?:

That is not during the first Gulf Was because that jet is LASTE modified and no LASTE jets were sent to GWI. You can clearly hear Bitchin Betty which is part of the LASTE/GCAS mod. Also I didn’t here him say he was hit by the AAA only they were taking AAA fire. In fact he was going in for a second pass which tells me he was NOT hit by the ground fire.
I think they are confusing the HUD vibe (from the gun) as him being hit by the AAA. I would say this is a post 1995 CAS mission in either Bosnia, Afganland, or the second Gulf War.

Not a GW1 mission for sure even without the LASTE MOD clue, by that time in the War the IRG tanks weren't in circles they were

\"SCRAP METAL\"! :D :D

3 TANK kills in a mission was getting to be a \"Common\" thing for some pilots and then you have the \"Famous Tank Killer Mission\"

So who is this Guy trying to [bs] ? I don't think the Voice you hear is that of an Actual Pilot saying \"Where are you at M-F'er\" doesn't sound like he's sucking any O2 and unless the Noise was edited out shouldn't their be some kind of \"Noise from the Engines or the \"Burp\" of the GAU??

So I think there's some [bs] going on, thats the way I think not including the bit about the Pilot being shot down.

So is there a reason you're keeping it to yourself? 8)

Three Tiger Sharks from Pope in OIF. The guy on the ground (Advance 33) was also a 75th guy on duty with the Army as an ALO. The two guys flying got Silver Stars, I think. The flight lead lost all his avionics just prior to the attack and had to do it without a HUD!

The flight lead is now at Al Asad in Iraq, the wingman is at D-M as an IP after finishing Weapons School. Not sure where Advance 33 is now.

You guys know how I am with names on here...

So part of the A-10 upgrades over the years has been \"Voice Recorders\" in the cockpit?

I've been away a long time but I don't remember voice recorders, but I've been wrong before so can someone answer that???

The DVADR has voice recording and I am pretty sure the regular HUD video has also always had a voice recording on it. I dont have my -1 readily available to look up the info.

We only had a few \"VTR\" birds, mine wasn't so it must be just the gun film,

The video is not DVADR...it was from the VTR system (video tape recorder) that was installed prior to DVADR. However, regarding the wingman (the video is of the wingman) is now stationed at Osan and works as a Weapons Officer as previously discussed. He's briefed us on this sortie a couple of times and given us his thoughts. Downtown Baghdad in low visibility with the good guys just across the river. It doesn't get any better than that.

The pilot was never shot down...and that is definitely his voice because that's the way he talks every day...including while he's flying. And you can't usually hear someone "sucking oxygen" in video tape unless they're breathing heavily. No editing has been done to the tape. All authentic. All good pilot stuff.

Slight correction on the Audio discussion. The old VTR system was before my time, but I do not believe it allowed for audio recording. Later on, the aircraft were modified with the Color Audio-Video Tape Recorder (CAVTR) in the cockpit, which would record HUD or TVM footage with audio. Now, the C-models, and some mod-ed A models are flying with the new DVADR system as mentioned. That summarizes it to the best of my knowledge...any other input for Goose and some of the others?
