LOL, I didnt think those would actually be on the AF webpage. When I went to the rack that day to sign everything off, Norris told me someone came out and took their pictures. I will have to let them know they are on the webpage.

Good Ole Wash Rack! YUCK!! [puke]

Man if there was one duty I ever hated when I was enlisted, that had to be the one!
Ypu seemed to have that smell linger with you 2 or 3 days, no matter what you did.
ANd it never failed, you would end up finishing the wash and doing the lube alone because flying was heavy or manning was short or some other [bs] reason!

The toothbrush look huh?
I will have to look and see if I have a copy of the picture in an old box. Onee of the guys had bought a 5 foot Toothbrush at some gag store when TDY to Nellis.
We go TDY to George AFB for NTC a few weeks later and guess what goes with us?
Yeah we have/had pictures of us brushing our teeth at daybreak!

Remember those ungodly early days of NTC?

WOW, how times have changed. When I was at DM in the late '70s, we didn't get any protective gear for wash rack. No green suits other than our own fatigues. No face shield other than our own glasses and since our rack was outside just behind the line, no hats allowed. We didn't even get any chemical gloves. So, by the end of the day, we were covered in chemicals and even had the stuff in our hair, and all you wanted to do was take a long hot shower, and you still reeked of the stuff.

The wash rack wasn't all though, there was also the cleaning of guns & elbows from the TER's. Can you say PD6-80? Gawd that stuff was nasty!

One other nasty aspect, R&R of the guns hydrolic motors. We had a TCTO once to R&R all of them in the squadron. Since I was on mids, yep our crew got stuck with doing most of them. I can still remember staggering back to the dorm one morning, covered head to toe in hydrolic fluid, to the point that my white T shirt was \"PINK\"!

GOOD TIMES!
