Working on a profile for the Blacksnakes. Does anyone know if the squadron emblem will be painted on the fuselage? The photos I have don't show any, but I'm not sure the photo reference I have is of a completed aircraft. Here's what I have so far..

What you have is the completed standard Blacksnake jet. That's the way all of the standard jets will be painted I believe. You may have used my pictures for this since it was cleaner than the other snake nose jet was at the time so it was the one I took a bunch of detailed pictures for modellers.  We only have two painted so far...too busy with acceptance and flying for now.
The \"163FS\" jet (82-0661) has a squadron patch behind the roundel, and 163FS going up the leading edge of the tail. I'll see if I can get pics of it tomorrow. We have Guard Drill this weekend and I'm working it. It was the featured A-10 in December's \"Combat Aircraft Monthly\" magazine. Oh, and we don't fly with the LASTE pod, but it does look good. 
Here are a couple pics I took in November for a Veterans Day flyover... 
You can kind of see 661's tail behind 944's.

Cool. I can lose the pod, that's easy. Yes, I think they WERE your photos I used...they were exactly what I needed! I wish I had photo walkarounds like that for every squadron (especially the old ones...quality photo coverage in the pre-digital days is pretty sketchy). Salute! |

They're coming to us from Hill with just the tail number and "IN" on them. Yeah, Pave Penny...my bad. I'm not a pointy head, just a crew dawg.

BTW Fritz, I showed your artwork to the CC of 944 today...told him when I took the pics originally that I'd make him famous...lol. He's wondering if he could buy a copy of that if you could get any in print since it's his jet. |
