Good evening everyone, at least, that's what it is my time, so you may take it as a good morning, a good afternoon, or perhaps a goodnight. Every single day I wake up with one thing on my mind, the first thing I ever think about, and the main thing I ever dream about; flying an A10. I'm 16 years old, but for nigh on a year now, I've done nothing but dredge up everything about A10s I could find anywhere I could look. I was wondering if there are any pilots of A10s who perhaps happen upon this post, and wouldn't mind talking to me a bit about their profession, I would be very appreciative. Though, it is completely understandable if you deem that speaking with me would be a complete and utter waste of time, as I know many kids my age seem to be these days.

-Nor law, nor duty bade me fight, nor public men, nor cheering crowds, a lonely impulse of delight drove to this tumult in the clouds. - William Butler Yeats

search around Thumper, there are LOTS of pilot accounts here of various experiances, as well as a few threads on what it takes to qualify as a Hog driver.

See the thread in general chat for information about becoming a pilot. The way to get there is almost identical for heavies and fighters, it just splits half way through UPT. If you want to ask the pilots about what flying an A-10 is like, most the of the guys here like talking about it, but everyone operational is pretty busy right now. If you'd like, I saved a narrative that a guy going through upgrade training posted and I could send it to you or repost it. He does a pretty darn good job of explaining the whole flight, although much of it is pilot-speak.
