Help me settle a bet here. Has anyone heard of the Army actually operating A-10s? A coworker (prior Army) swears the Army was operating A-10s out of Harvey Barracks in Kitzingen, Germany from ~1986-1991. Any info would be appreciated... and interesting. Thanks-

The Army has never operated A-10s. We have flown out of many Army bases over the years, Kitzigen being one of them. Others were Grafenwohr, Butzbach, and Illesheim.

Thanks, any info would be appreciated. Is this mostly a "maintainers" site? I was in the 75th at Pope and the 355th up in AK. Cool site and keep up the hard work fellas.
Love the jet

Think it was McPeak in 1990 or so. COS of USAF, he offered to swap with the Army, Hogs for the Patriot.

Army is held to the Key West Agreement in 48 or so on the type of fixwings it can fly. Something like 12,500lbs or so.

So, it looks like the consensus on this one is: no, the Army did not actually operate A-10s. Thanks for all of the input - I owe you guys one.

That's funny, I won the bet against an ex-Army Infantryman who was stationed at Harvey Barracks. He just saw them there a lot and figured they belonged to the Army.

LOL, tell your buddy he's fostering the image of grunts as uneducated nitwits who can't read "US Air Force" on the side of a plane. ;)

If he could handle "Front Toward Enemy" this should have been no problem for him....lol
