I have finnaly taken the time to mark my door art images with their aircraft tail number. Going back through my emails and images I have been able to ID about half of the door art and now need your help matching the rest to thier aircraft.

The ones I know are now marked with a red X on their respective thumbnail image so you know which ones are marked before opening the larger image. If you know any I don't have marked please post the tail number of the aircraft and the art number (or description) here.

I have not listed the base they are assigned to because I feel that is a little to much info in one place. When you post tail numbers please don't list the base because I can get that info from my master tail number location listing.

Also if you know the year (or clsoe to it) the image was taken and any info on the door art itself I would also be intersted in that. Hawg166 posted a very nice story of the penguin door and that's the kind of info I want.

Of course for you military types you can send your info to my .mil addy if there something you don't want to post here. For the rest of you please post here or use this email addy to contact me...

Thanks in advance for any help you guys/gals can give to help me save a part of A-10 history!

Dice,
Pretty sure "Junkyard Hawg" was 80-0258 at Eielson when I was up there. I remember because the Crew Chief had painted "Junkyard" and "Hawg" on the inside of the speed brakes so when they were open you could read it from behind the jet.

Got some doors for you Dice; page 3 on the Pen.

The one with Mighty Mouse holding the Avenger is 78-632.

There is towards the bottom of a Python wrapped around a tank. This 78-640 and is the same jet that is on page 2 that says 'Python'. This is the new art, kinda 20th century abstract impressionism if you ask me, but done nicely.

The American girl on the Avenger is 78-104. This artwork was done by Michael Dooney the creator of Teenage mutant Ninja turtles. He also did aircraft 78-630 Lady Liberty, 80-696 The Ass Kicken Chicken, 80-216 BraveHawg. I am not sure but I believe that the crew chief for 78-104 was batting around the idea of naming the jet Ridin'Shotgun.

The jet with Yosemite Sam ridin' his camel ("Camel's is so stupid !") is 78-626. One of our pilots that retired was LtCol Lawrence. His call sign was Nomad. When he retired the art stayed.

The one right next to it with the dude from The Lord of the Rings is aircraft 78-644. The artist is the same one that did the new art on 78-640 mentioned above.

The next one with the POW/MIA flag is 78-647. It was done by a local airbrush artist from Westfield State College here in Mass.

I looked on your page but did not see the art for 80-216 BraveHawg or 78-630 Lady Liberty. I think I sent them to you but if didnt I will get them to you post haste. I think that covers the Barnes jets that you have posted.
