Im looking for any info about original A-10 gunsights. Was it just simple reflector type stuff like in WWII planes or maybe it has a radar rangefinder ?

It was a reflector. With a depresseable Mil Ofset. 41 Mils for the Gun. Degrade Bombinging Techniques, requireing a specified Speed, Dive angle, and release height. This also required each differnt type of weapon to have its own Mil Offset adjustment.

The radar altimeters came later. The LASTE system with Its tie in to the antenaes make the Hypotenuse Angle Computation for the Bomb release, Computed Impact for the gun, rockets etc.

It does this by a known set of tables for each type of ordnance employed.

Thx for answer. More to go :).

Did pilots use binoculars or something like that to find targets ? Or its just a bit too crazy idea :D ? But it looks similar to searching target with the TV-camera of the Maverick.

When did radar altimeters and LASTE get into operational units ?
