Finally got around to finding all of my pics from Bagram, and have about 270 MB of pictures. Going to do what I can to get the better ones online for everyone...I'll let you know when I get the first batch up in the next day or so..

Glad you're home safe and sound, Raven. btw, I have something for you, in return for the shell casing you gave me last summer. Send me your snail mail addy.<img src=icon_smile_wink.gif border=0 align=middle><img src=icon_smile_big.gif border=0 align=middle>

The beginning of my pictures can be found here: http://photos.yahoo.com/thelastraven13. I will probably need some space Weasel, still trying to sift through all of them, though. Thanks for all the welcome backs everyone. And 30MM, I'll get you a snail mail addy as soon as I have a permanent one, I'm between assignments right now...stopped in to visit my folks for a few weeks.

Raven.....

Great pictures... You have the first picture I've seen since getting out in 98 of my old jet. I'm glad to see she's still flying. Ever heard the story about her and what she used to be called when she was stationed in England? "The bean grazer"...

I'd love to hear about the story of the 'Bean Grazer<img src=icon_smile.gif border=0 align=middle>

Dice: Once I get to Nellis and settled in I can burn you a CD and send 'em to you...

Chief966: Nope, never heard her called that. In my two years at Spang, she was always called Princess, and treted like one when time allowed. For a while before we went to Bagram, my jet (951) and Princess were the two best looking jets on the line, sometimes nicer than whatever had just rolled off the wash rack. I'd love to hear the story, though.

BaconBits: My jet was the first one to get the "gold" stabs, and I hated them. For some strange reason, she got home and they were black again...how odd, huh?

Maybe the pilot followed too close to the jet in front on the flight home and the caps were blackened by the jet efflux?<img src=icon_smile.gif border=0 align=middle><img src=icon_smile_wink.gif border=0 align=middle><img src=icon_smile_tongue.gif border=0 align=middle>
Or maybe the crew simply mislaid the 'gold' paint<img src=newicons/Whatever_anim.gif border=0 align=middle>

I just said nationals...you know, the nationals that were there. *shrug* It really is tough to tell what happened for sure...all I saw was saw newspaper, packing tape, sand paper, and spray paint laying on a B-1 stand.....

Raven!
Well the story as I've heard it, goes something like this. Actually, I heard it from the crew chief of 951 at the time. (Tim Boney).... He had heard that 966 was on a routine sortie and had IFE'd for a right side hydraulic system failure. The pilot had forgotten to pull the emergency brake handle before landing. When he touched down, he sailed off the runway into a bean field. Hence the nickname "bean grazer". Thought it was an interesting story, and I was always promised pictures of the carnage. I had heard that they changed out one of the wings. Never saw them though.

Chief: Sounds similar to the story of 985, which parked on the golf course one day, shortly before I arrived at Spang. If you dig back through the forum, I know there is a story about that around here.

This is a coincidence, I was thinking about that very incident the other day, I was wondering if it was fixed and put back in service.
It must have been about early 2000 it happened?

I like the rest of the pictures Raven....jbpig might remember 951, it began its career with the 91st TFS 'Blue Streaks' at 'Woody'

Bacon Bits: 985 is back flying...got her back abot 16-18 months ago if I recall correctly. Lot of gremlins at first, but she straightened up at/after Bagram.
