From the article: "The Air Force uses A-10s and F-16s in the controller role, but the F-16 Fighting Falcon has the predominant role." When did F-16s take the predominant role in FACing? News to me. |

I think Luke is just trying to get as much press as possible as a counter to BRAC 2005. They've got enough going against them as-is, LOL. |

What block F-16's are they using? I find it hard to believe the Dart can do this job better than the hog. Type 7 you are right about BRAC. Here in SC they are scrambling to "Save" Shaw, McIntyre ANG and Beufort MCAS. Time will tell who stays and who goes. Fender "A woman drove me to drink and I hadn't even the courtesy to thank her". Never did understand why there's an ANG unit of F-16s (McEntire) while a short distance away is a whole F-16 base (Shaw). One would figure the Air Guard could operate out of Shaw. From the criteria I've seen, that's the kind of thing BRAC will be looking at. |

They have block 52's and we have 50's at Shaw. The motor is the main difference. McEntire has serveral strikes against it right now. Noise abatement, much needed runway repairs are just a few. I think in order to save Shaw they may move McEntire onto Shaw. We have the room now that we are down to 3 Figther Squadrons. Only problem is those good ole boys will not like it to much I'm sure.
