BTW we know what we are going to do with the jet, the wing will go through the SLEP/Hog-up program and be placed on another jet, the rest of the airframe will be used to recertify the A-10 fleet for airworthness. HMFIC |

Dice, Are you telling me their going to part out 987? Man there couldn't have been much left to her after we departed and Koob and the gang finished with it. ==== You can run but why die tired. ============================ |

The rest of the jet will be placed on a "flex" machine and another 16,000 "flight hours" put on her. It will then be stripped to the bone and inspected to insure the airframe can last another life span of 8,000 hours. HMFIC |

That flex machine sounds really neat. I didnt even know they did stuff like that. It would be neat to find out which plane gets her wings. Amazing a year has gone by already since 987 sat there shot up. Was quite a site. |

I'd guess a flex machine simulates the same stresses as flight, only faster. "Some pup" Nickname by Fenderstrat72 |

Like gifted said, the flex machine is a computer controled machince which can simulate airloads. They can put a full 16,000 hours on in about a year running 24/7. I have some pictures of the current wing on it, I will try to find them and post a few but, my house is full of boxes and I've burned over 4 gig of data onto disk....now which disk is it.... HMFIC |
