Don't know how many have seen this, saw it in the magazine laying around at work, figured it'd be worth posting.

Why do ABDR teams come from depot nowdays? And how come all the old ABDR birds that used to be at individual bases disappeared?

They are assigend to the depots because the depot is usually the best equiped to handle crash damage repairs in peace time. I would only be speculating on the diasappearance of the ABDR jets but I do know that the individual units are no longer tasked with ABDR in war time so there would be no reason for them to keep a trainer for that purpose. They have a few of them at Hill for the CLSS guys to maintain proficiency.

You showed me one of those when i was out at Hill didn't you Mark?

And the women come out to cut up what remains,
Jest roll to your rifle and blow out your brains
An' go to your Gawd like a soldier."

Yeah they were out at that area east from the runway where the B-47 was laying in pieces. Its called the BORTA (base operational readiness training area). They have quite a variety. F-15's F-16's A-10's a C-130. They also had some F-4's, F-5's, T-38 and a T-37.

They have the same thing here at Robins...There are a couple F-15s & a C-130....they have to CLSS units here...Reserve & Active....the Active side helps out on Depot ACFT when they aren't TDY...

Another similiar question,

Any A/R, crash recovery guys here?

What does a base like, say, Luke do if a C-5 lands gear up and crumps the runway? Is their crash recovery only optimized for F-16s? If so, what do they do with the Galaxy? Disassenble it?

How about DM? Are there separate crash recovery teams for the different aircraft types (C-130, A-10, H-60)?

Crash Recovery is responsible for aircraft that "typicaly" fly in and out of their base. In the event one of these aircraft crashes at a base that's not equipped for them, they would have to send in a recovery team from their homestation or closest base with that ability.
