I was driving down a very desolate two-lane highway the other day and came up on a group of vehicles waiting to pass a slow-moving semi-truck. As I approached the back of the pack, I started braking and suddenly heard a very loud SSSSSSSSSSSSSWOOOOOSSSSSSSHHHHHH and simultaneously the sky grew dark. I thought something had hit me from behind, because the truck felt like it surged forward, but nothing happened. As quickly as the noise came, it disappeared and the sky got bright again. I quickly bent over and looked out above my windshield and saw an A-10 pulling up and banking off to the right. The noise was obviously the plane and the darkness was it's shadow going over the truck, blocking the sun. I don't know how close he came to my truck, but once I realized what had happened, it seemed like he was close enough to suck the windshield right out of my truck. I'm pretty sure A-10 pilots aren't supposed to do this type of thing on public roads in the middle of the day, so I'll keep the exact date, time and location to myself and hope that I'm lucky enough to have it happen again some day |

Coach, I heard 'bout them! But his close encounter was in WI, and my squadron's there right now. Ain't no 100 footers in the squadron. We're still lobbying the Wing King to allow it, though! |

Giant, I've talked to the Range officer over there at Hardwoods after you guys have been there. How sure are you there are no 100 ft guys...I hear conflicting reports... The enemy should be in no doubt that we are his nemesis and that we are bringing about his rightful destruction. -Lt. While I make my home in Wisconsin, I was nowhere near there when this happened. I would have to say this was much closer to 100 feet than 300. |

I did an airshow in new Foundland a few years back. I had some great pictures that my pilot confiscated. he also confisctaed the airshow photographers pictures. I dont know what was on the other guys film but I had these great shots of the rivets in betweeen stations 5 and 7. By this time tomorrow I shall have gained either a pearage or Westminster Abbey........Nelson |
