Anyone on here ever come across the Lockheed-Martin rag called 'Code One'? I guess it started primarily as a Lawndart-only publication, but has expanded to include other airframes under L-M contract. If you've seen the publication, you'll notice a distinct lack of the A-10 included in it. Being that L-M is the prime contractor for the 'Hog now, I don't understand why they don't publicize that in their own in-house magazine. I was especially pissed when the outer mailing cover of one of their magazines included the silhouette for almost everything else they build or have maintenance contracts that has wings (including UAVs!), but no A-10 was included. WTF, Over? ATTACK! |

Thunderstruck, belive me I know what you're saying and the lack of the A-10 in any LM PR plan has been noticed by many. The 16, and now JFS, gets lots of "swag" like posters, pins, and models given at meeting like PWIGS and PMRs....but the A-10 very little. They did convert the historical 16mm flims to DVD and pass them out but, I belive that was the biggest PR item I saw in my 6 years as the ACCLO. I know there's an IMAX Red Flag movie, which will include the A-10, being produced which LM was heavly involved in, I need to check the statis of that. I don't know if after the PE mod is finnished there will be enough $$ in the A-10 program for LM to even bid on the Prime contract when it runs out. Ugly But Well Hung |

I wrote a letter to the editor of 'Code One', I'll post it here later in the week for everyone's entertainment. I'd also like to recommend anyone coming across L-M's 'Code One' place it immediately in the head and use it as a$$ paper. You won't have to worry about defiling the 'Hog because it's never in there. By the way, if anyone wants to know the status of Korea's T-50 trainer, check your issue of 'Code One' BEFORE you wipe away the Hershey Squirts with it. The L-M rep was at our unit back in November for our Wing King's 4,000 hour flight. He was handing out A-10 pins, which I use as a quasi-tie clip. Also got one of the DVDs with the historical film on it - I understand you had something to do with this, Dice, so many thanks! I was appreciative of those two items, but compared to the Viper dudes I know, we get the short end of the stick on cool freebies. <BLOCKQUOTE id=quote><font size=1 face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica" id=quote>quote:<hr height=1 noshade id=quote> I know there's an IMAX Red Flag movie, which will include the A-10, being produced which LM was heavly involved in, I need to check the status of that. <hr height=1 noshade id=quote></BLOCKQUOTE id=quote></font id=quote><font face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica" size=2 id=quote> Does it show the 'Hogs getting schwacked by agressor Vipers while the F-15Cs are on the tanker? <BLOCKQUOTE id=quote><font size=1 face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica" id=quote>quote:<hr height=1 noshade id=quote> I don't know if after the PE mod is finnished there will be enough $$ in the A-10 program for LM to even bid on the Prime contract when it runs out. <hr height=1 noshade id=quote></BLOCKQUOTE id=quote></font id=quote><font face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica" size=2 id=quote> I guess only time will tell. Wouldn't it be ironic if the 'Hog outlasts the Lawndart? ATTACK! |

Thunderstruck, if you look on the inside cover of the DVD you will see a "special thanks to" MSgt *****...that's me! A10stress sent me the historical films, which he had keep for over 20 years on 16mm. I looked for ways to convert it to some other format when LM stepped-up and offered to do so, if they could use the DVD for PR...so I said sure... just to get it funded and in the hands of the A-10 community. I don't know what the IMAX flims show (I know your comments may have been a joke) because I didn't get to finnish the project before I retired. I did work with the IMAX people on where to load the camera (station6) and other details on filming the Hawg. I tried to get LM to fund an update to Horatio Hogbreath (for the PE mod) through his creator MR. Hank Caruso but ran out of time before I could get anything done. Ugly But Well Hung |

I am familiar with "Code One". It is published by our brothers at LM-Fort Worth (I sometimes refer to them as Dixie Station as code in case their are spies whithin earshot, shhh) so that explains why it is dominated by their products. The other parts of LM Aeronautical Systems (Marietta, Palmdale) don't get many inches in the publication either. I don't think any other divisions are considered as suitable topics unless they make things that are in, or that hang on, lawndarts. It's really a propaganda magazine for the so-called "Fighter Enterprise" at FW. It's not meant to be a corporate wide news mag. It frequently has some good photography. The A-10 is way off their radar, but they could have mentioned it in the special edition they put together to highlight LM products in Iraq. I'll take a look at the on-line version we have access to. I went through the Operation Iraqi Freedoom issue and there is not a mention of the A-10 (or the F-18, F-14, B-1, B-2, C-17 etc.). Only Lockheed born products are featured (e.g. F-117, U2, C-5, C-141, P-3, S-3, C-130 and F-16). Like I said, It's a propaganda mag but it does have some nice stuff in it anyway. Check it out. You might know someone who is quoted. http://www.codeonemagazine.com/archives ... index.html THE CRAPTOR ENGINEERING TEAM <img src=icon_smile_big.gif border=0 align=middle> "The F-22...It's the poo" |

I contacted the editor of Code One when I was in AFETS some time ago and the reply back at the time was he didn't even know the A-10 was supported by L-M. Asked me to send him some details and I figured if he didn't have the initiative to check it out, I wasn't going to write the story for him.
