LUU-1, 5 and 6's are all the same thing, only different colors. They are ground illumination markers, called logs. They burn for about 30 minutes. Hardly ever see these anymore now that we all use NVGs. Same with LUU-2's, parachute illumination flares. They have about 2 million candlepower and burn for 5 minutes, plus or minus. We don't really use these that much anymore, either. We now use LUU-19s. Same canister, just different.

Yup. Have only seen/used the -1s in my lifetime. Never did see the -5s or -6s, which is why I was wondering if they're still around.
I know -1s were red. If I remember right, -5s were green and -6s were brown, or something like that....don't have my old battle book in front of me here.
Check this out weapons troops......a f%ck-up on Global Security.org. I ask you, does this look anything like a SUU-25 in the pic? Funny thing is, the text even describes it as a "tubular metal body". LOL.
