http://www.lifelibertyetc.com/product.aspx?pid=53

quote:
The most feared aircraft in the US Air Force, the A-10 Tankbuster was the first aircraft in US aviation history designed specifically for close air support. Its ability to support ground troops, to take out enemy positions and tanks and act as a spotter plane have made it one of the most successful jets of recent times. From its first taste of battle in Desert Storm to the most recent assault on Baghdad, HEAVY METAL chronicles the combat history of the weapon that was once dubbed the "ugly duckling" for its ungainly design. Interviews with current pilots, many of whom flew in Operation Iraqi Freedom, reveal what it is like to command the battlefield from this awesome weapon and also detail the difficulties and dangers faced by the A-10 crews and their commanders on the ground.

Cheers! What percentage of the video shows the Hog actually chewing things up? Whilst I'm interested in the background information, I do like watching the cannon do it's stuff... "A .44 magnum beats 4 Aces everytime..." |

By the way, on the History Channel's web site, I found the following comment concerning videos not on DVD...
quote:
Please send us an email (dvdrequest@aetv.com) and tell us which show you would like to own on DVD. We can not guarantee that we will offer it on DVD, but when we reference all customer emails we make our decisions on what new titles should be in the DVD Library. Look for many new titles from A&E TELEVISION and THE HISTORY CHANNEL in the DVD Library over the next several months.

Yep, I've sent them an email already, and hopefully others will as well. This documentary is too good to only be put out on tape... Cheers! M2 |

They have a bunch of titles on DVD in DVD+R format, which is basically just a copy of the VHS tape to DVD, not one that was created for DVD from the original source material. They're happy to sell them on their own site, but will not let retailers purchase them. I'd love to carry the DVD version but they won't let me. --- Pete Nelson Your Warthog Territory Webmaster |

You can still buy that VHS version. I'll give you one guess as to who runs Life, Liberty, Etc. --- Pete Nelson Your Warthog Territory Webmaster |

I just had to return a Blackhawk Down documentary from them in DVD+R format because it wouldn't play on our DVD player. Sucks I believe I already have this taped on VHS when it played awhile back. There were 2 different A-10 shows, one had the PA ANG unit I believe. One of the pilots was named Ty Cobb. TG out |

The stories told are great, but the video is all file footage with very, very little OIF stuff- not a single frame of OIF HUD film. Come to think of it, there's very little of anything substantive. It's just an hour of hog pilots (largely 75FS) repeating "The A-10 is really cool" in so many words. Poor production, lowest-common-denominator-intended marketing. Had potential to be awesome, but still the bros' (and sisters') stories are great. |
