Went to see red flag, the IMAX flick with the hawg footage. While it was nice to see "Holywood" acknowledge the A10, <img src=icon_smile_big.gif border=0 align=middle> the film itself was rather lacking in the quality department. <img src=icon_smile_sad.gif border=0 align=middle> First off, the main character (notice I didn't say ACTOR, as he was NOT!) was an eagle driver (strike 1).<img src=newicons/Whatever_anim.gif border=0 align=middle> Second, some of the footage was CG. And done by somebody that didn't appear to have much real flight experience.<img src=newicons/anim_bs.gif border=0 align=middle> Third, they must've gotten a REALLY GOOD deal on flares for that movie!!!! At times the hogs were dropping more flares on the target than ordinance!! Literally about 20 at a time!!<img src=newicons/anim_shock.gif border=0 align=middle> Also, the targets were obviously explosive-laiden, even the untrained eye could tell that the explosions were a bit dramatic. Part of my disappointment may have been my higher expectaions. I was hoping for more actual unstaged footage. That was not the case! In fact, Top Gun had better, more realistic footage than this. By far, the ONLY thing this had over top gun was 1) <img src=newicons/icon_hog.gif border=0 align=middle> and 2)IMAX. It's cute for an entertainment movie, but not worth much more than that. My 4-1/2 yr old boy LOVED it, so it was a good flick for that! I guess that would be another thing it has over Top Gun---kid friendly. On a scale from 1-10, I'd give it a 4. Pitty they couldn't make a better movie with the hog in it... <img src=icon_smile_sad.gif border=0 align=middle> ..........That's my story and I'm sticking to it. <img src=icon_smile_blackeye.gif border=0 align=middle>...Was really looking forward to this. We wont see it until around June. "RickUSN- That was intelligent and useful Mudd. But it certainly is what Ive come to expect. Mindless babbling with no intent to either enlighten or inform. |

Heck TG, I think in one of the dogfights between the 15s and 16s they showed a 2 second clip of a 14 as if it was the 15!!<img src=newicons/anim_bs.gif border=0 align=middle> Definitely needed somebody with a clue for accuracy checks!!! By the time the hogs showed up, I was actually impressed they used and accurate sound for the gun instead of some machinegun sounding clip from A Bridge Too Far or something.... I'm hacking on the film a lot, because it was full of holes. But it was slightly entertaining for somebody looking for a new flick featuring the hog. Damn, sorry to hear they didn't do a better job with it...I was realy looking forward to seeing this...but now I don't know if I will drive to SL to see it! <img src=newicons/anim_cussing.gif border=0 align=middle><img src=newicons/anim_bs.gif border=0 align=middle> Ugly But Well Hung |
