New to the board but not the subject matter. I'm a photographer for a major association magazine and a month ago we paid a visit to DM to do an AMARC story and added a short visit to the A-10 side with the intent of doing a 'photo essay' sort of story on the schoolhouse. Went thru all the PA hoops and made our requests as to what we wanted to shoot. Ultimately got about half of what we wanted which sorta suprised me a little and while things were very 'properly' set up I got the sense that we were being 'scooted' along by PA and that they got happier the close we were to leaving. Wondering if any of you out there are at the 357th and if the 'restrictive' nature was a PA thing or is there a feeling like that by the guys (and girls) who actually do the job. As soon as I figure out the photo bucket thing I'll post a couple of shots. maybe some of you remember the two of us? I'll try to post a couple of shots and then talk about the opposite end of the spectrum at Pope... |

"We" are not PA hounds but are very proud of the aircraft and the mission.
quote:
As soon as I figure out the photo bucket thing I'll post a couple of shots. maybe some of you remember the two of us?

If you send me some of the pics I'll post them for ya. Thanks Dice, I think you're right. Without getting into it too deep I came away thinking that it was laziness disguised as 'security issues'. Pope was totally different. I really had a chance to get to know the squadron (74th) the PA office is for the C-130 wing and because the 23rd 'belongs' to the 4th at Seymour the PA in this case didn't really have to be so helpful and could have glued himself to me but instead he basically dropped me off and let the unit take care of me. Worked out much better... yes 'we' are considered 'friendly media' I prefer the phrase 'educated media'. btw e-mailed you a couple shots more later on... Thanks |

aceart I will let you know how things are at Spang, I am taking a Brit photographer there in a few weeks to get some shots for a couple of upcoming books. However, I have yet to hear of an A-10 unit that wasn't freidnly towards 'educated media'... Cheers! M2 |
